We haven't had a puppy for about 12 years.
We'd like to do a better job of training this one.
How soon should we start a class?
Hi Jeanne, thank you so much for contacting The Persuaded Pooch. Congratulations on your new pup... How exciting! Normally, I would say that your pup should come to puppy class at 8 weeks of age for socialization. However, we are not able to have puppy classes currently due to restrictions on the space. Therefore, we recommend private training as soon as possible after you bring your puppy home. Sometimes we have clients book the New Puppy Consultation even before they bring their puppy home, so we can help them be prepared from Day 1. Do you train dogs to be therapy dogs? If so, what is the cost and length of training
Hi John! Thank you for your message. We do not certify therapy dogs. However, if you are seeking to get into a therapy dog certification program, or refine your dog’s therapy dog skills once you are in a program, we can assist. I found Nicole and the Persuaded Pooch after an exhaustive search for somewhere for me and my puppy to have a positive and educational experience. I was absolutely pleased with my experience with the "essential etiquette" curriculum, and our trainer, Nicole. I feel like the way she taught highlighted that half of the educational journey for the doggies was that of their people learning how to talk to them! I also really appreciated that she respected our time and made sure that we had an environment free from challenges that would impede a safe and productive experience. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience, and will be happy to refer both friends and clients to her in the future!

My dog Corduroy & I had a great experience with Sarah. Right off the bat, she was extremely accommodating with my schedule, which I really appreciated.
We did the "We Train for You" program to help my dog become less reactive on a leash, and he made SO much progress in just a few short weeks. The key word is progress, not perfection. Is he perfectly well-behaved all of time? Of course not, but the important takeaway is that I now feel like I am equipped with the tools to help support him and curb his behavior. I have a much better understanding of what triggers set him off, so I know what situations to avoid when we're on walks. And I feel a lot more confident when I'm walking him.
Ultimately, it feels like I'm the one who got trained, and I know that if I remain consistent and continue working with him, the skills I learned will stay with me for good.

Nicole was wonderful and a pleasure to work with. She was gentle with our puppy and very supportive of me. We really appreciated her wisdom, guidance, patience, training expertise and professionalism! Not only did Nicole help us with basic obedience, but she taught us fun games to play with our dog and different ways to interact with her. Her love for animals is truly apparent!
