The Persuaded Pooch

I adopted my Sadie when she was 1-1/2 Years old and wanted to get her used to people and other animals. My Vet suggested Persuaded Pooch where the Trainer comes to your home as Sadie was so timid. (They also have group sessions). Sarah was extremely knowledgeable, videos the training session for practice until the next week, and gives hints and suggestions on everything a dog owner would need to know. Sadie made tremendous progress with Sarah and I would highly recommend Persuaded Pooch for your needs.

We did the "puppy teenager" class, and found it incredibly helpful! After each session, you receive an email with videos summarizing the class, so you can continue the work at home. Our puppy now knows sit, down, and come consistently, and is making improvements each day on leave it, leash skills, placing on his bed, and other manners. We were able to ask individual questions and got lots of tips for potty training. This class was amazing for the price!

My partner and I brought our 11 week old, shy puppy to the puppy socialization class. Here he really began to come out of his shell and build confidence to play with other puppies! It was great to see. The classes are very informative and puppy playtime is carefully curated to keep everybody comfortable. Unfortunately, due to the puppy teen class being full we're not able to further continue his training with Persuaded Pooch. I tried contacting to see if we could squeeze him in since he just graduated the previous class, however the class was booked for 3+ weeks. I was allowed to bring him back to an extra puppy class which I was super grateful for but it was clear he had outgrown it. Since training is so crucial for puppies we didn't want to have a month break between classes. But other than that the classes were fun and Nicole is awesome!

Just want to say thank you to Sarah Hoth and The Persuaded Pooch for helping a new pup in the house! My adopted mixed breed (more like "mixed up" - Shepherd, Great Pyrenees, Husky, Border Collie) puppy has turned into a great companion dog. I took in "Stanley" as a favor and was not prepared for his behavior issues. After some research revealed that a Karen Pryor Certified dog trainer is highly recommended, I found Sarah (who also has significant experience as well as other relevant certifications). In-home training with Sarah for Stanley (ok...mostly for me) was exactly what we needed. Sarah was reliable, on time, and made sure to follow up. She provided hands-on practice with me and Stanley using positive reinforcement that had immediate results. Subsequent visits helped me make adjustments as our training progressed and the short, to-the-point workbook she provided answered lots of questions and helped remind me how to stay on track. A recommendation from Sarah for a special harness facilitated both control and training on walks that showed great progress in just a few weeks (no more pulling in front or behind or jumping or swinging his hip to get me out of the way, eating everything off the ground, reacting to dogs across the street). I turned to Sarah again when Stanley struggled to adjust at a dog park where I took him to socialize with other dogs. Her advice and referral to a safer, supervised dog play program was a game changer. He is considered one of their best "buddies" these days. The true test of Sarah's excellent advice and help came when I recently hired a professional photographer to take pictures of Stanley in a large open park. He sat and held poses on my command such that I could walk away from him a let her take the time to get some awesome photos. What a trustworthy and fun dog he turned out to be thanks to Sarah's help!
