The Loyal Hound

I found The Loyal Hound after doing a lot of research to find the right trainers for my puppy, and ultimately decided to go out of state to work with Jay and Shannon, and I’m so glad I did! From our initial consultation call, they were incredibly honest and set realistic expectations, which made me feel confident choosing their three-week board and train program. When I picked my puppy up, he was happy, healthy, and clearly very well cared for. Once we got home, I could really see how much work they had put into him, especially with his reactivity toward other dogs, and certain sounds, and kids. They worked with me on a clear and effective plan to continue his progress at home, but most importantly, their support didn’t end when the program did. Jay and Shannon are still always there to answer questions and offer guidance whenever I need it. I’m so grateful I trusted them with my puppy and highly recommend The Loyal Hound!

Frankie is a young border collie who is very sweet and super smart, but was developing some bad habits that were making him hard to live with. These included real red-lines like jumping up on an elderly member of the family --- out of excitement and love but still unacceptably dangerous. And although we worked with him for several hours each day and had taught him all kinds of tricks, we weren't making progress on things that really mattered. We also had noticed that leaving him with dog sitters or boarding when we had to travel would result in training setbacks. Frankie spent three weeks with Jay and Shannon and came back with a dramatically better set of manners, but still very much his sweet and excited self. Our relationship with him is so much better now and we couldn't be happier. We also really appreciate the follow on work that Jay has done with us to keep him progressing with training, and were happy to see how excited he was to go back and see Jay and Shannon when we went for a refresher.
