The Language Of Dogs

Received help with training for my 10 month old puppy and could not be happier. Martha was so kind and gentle, but also so effective at helping train both me and my pup. Between recall, impulse control, basic commands, and leash pulling, I feel so much more confident in taking my pup out in social settings without having to worry about how she will act. I had tried some other trainers prior and this is by far the most effective training program we have done, and would recommend to anyone in need of a trainer. Forever thankful!

I met with one other trainer, “all-positive,”before I met Justin. Her words to me, in a whisper, were, “You don’t have to do this.”Justin’s were, as he held up my lunging, aggressive, muscular beast’s leash, “If you want to do this, you are going to have to be me, and it is going to be hard.” Now that is what I call motivational speaking! To be fair, he did immediately, that evening, also come up with a concrete plan for training and rehoming Gunnar with a trainer he works with, Ebonie Lewis, who has her facility outside the city. Having a concrete plan was also comforting and took some pressure off of me. Justin Silver's highly individualized approach and expert dedication saved our rescue dog from being given up (or worse) because of unmanageable dog aggression (reactivity). Justin also trained me and my family, including my husband, tween daughter, and my sister-in-law. The whole experience was mind-expanding and life-altering for me. Our dog went from being dangerous and dysfunctional in the city environment to happy, well-adjusted and at the dog park, with lots of supervision, every single day. He also city runs with me, rain or shine, every day, unthinkable a couple of months ago. Justin helped me muzzle train Gunnar immediately so he was safe to walk and then he and his XL Bully, Brutus, during two weeks they stayed together at his home, got him gradually to the point of not needing a muzzle or haltie at all and being able to socialize safely with other dogs. I went from not even wanting a dog—my kids roped me into it—-to finding that training our dog is a passion and new hobby. Communicating with an animal is super cool and fascinating, in addition to the pleasure of this incredible new canine companion in our life. You will be in the best hands with Justin. Every session led to remarkable progress. I was particularly impressed by how he figured out navigating our lobby from our dog’s perspective. Passing through our lobby was terrifying because dogs could pop out of nowhere, triggering lunging, barking, even once the capture of a small dog (luckily with muzzle). It made me dread going for walks. In one session he made it safe and smooth. I asked Justin to teach our dog how to walk through Hell (NYC) and he delivered. Now I too can do it. He held my hand every step of the way, going far beyond what I would expect from any trainer. I could not have done it without his expertise and help that comes from a true and deep love and understanding of dogs. My dog owes his life to Justin and so do I; in my house I would have been booted if I’d not figured out how to train this dog. I teach him tricks and commands now with no issue and his behavior is basically impeccable, and I have very high standards. My dog saved his own life by learning how to play and so did I, and I had the time of my life in that role, somehow in the end being more myself through the process, certainly not what I expected.
