The K-9 Center

My husband and I are first time Bull Terrier parents. Our Bull Terrier was particularly high strung and extra crazy at home. We knew that with this breed we were going to need to start training him early on and get a control over his temperament or else he was going to rule us! We were recommended to The K-9 Center by my husbands brother and it was the best decision we have made regarding our puppy. When our puppy was 10 weeks old we started coming to Amanda at The K-9 Center to learn some basic obedience training. Amanda truly shows enthusiasm when our puppy is doing well and improving weekly. She is a genuinely kind individual, who loves dogs, and who is very well trained in what she does. John is also a very knowledgeable individual with years of experience in dog training, once you talk to him you will see how much he really knows. I highly recommend this place for any kind of dogs, we have seen Dobermans, Belgian Malinois, Labs, and Bull Dogs- all very well mannered! My husband and I enjoyed class just as much as our Bull Terrier. Our puppy Baci, is now 5 months old and has completed 8 weeks of puppy training classes. He has shown such a difference in obedience. He is so much better at home and listens to all of our commands. He knows Sit, Down, Place, Heel, and is learning to stay in place! Thanks to Amanda we had quite the unruly puppy turn into a well mannered, well socialized pup, overall awesome pup. We thought it was impossible, yet it was done! With that being said, we will happily be continuing with The K-9 Center for adult / lifetime training. So happy that there is a place like this on Long Island!

Amanda and John have been excellent to work with. They helped me train my older dog to be tolerant, at a minimum, of a new puppy and address some lingering behavior issues with ease. I wish I had gone there sooner!! When I got my new puppy quarantine was still in effect, so when we could finally train her she was behind. Amanda worked with us strategically to catch her up and she is doing EXCELLENT! I really like working with them as they train not only my dogs, but me as well so we can have the most rewarding and safe relationship. They are also a wealth of knowledge on dogs and are always happy to give advice which I appreciate. They teach all the practical skills and commands but also some cute fun stuff to do with your dog too which We have fun doing at home. They really enjoy my little Trixie girl and I’m so thankful I found them. I look forward to moving up to the group classes when my puppy is ready!
