After years of putting my dogs through various trainings, I can truly say that Gonzalo is the best. Both my dogs and myself trust him, he takes the time to explain the thought process behind the training, he’s very straight up and realistic about the process, he offers tons of additional support and resources outside of his sessions and he even makes the training fun. My dogs have shown amazing progress and life has been so much more peaceful. I’d also like to address the one star review on here that someone (who’s not a client of his) wrote about Gonzalo having to point out their dogs behavior while he was with his client (the client was me). The person’s dog was staring my dogs down and they kept coming closer and Gonzalo made sure to keep my dogs distanced and safe. In my eyes, that situation is actually a great representation of how much Gonzalo cares about the dog’s well being, and is a huge reason why I always trust him to the fullest. Unfortunately not everyone is willing to train their dog, and Gonzalo helps you to deal with those real life situations that you’re bound to encounter.

I was enjoying my time at a public park with my dog and grandparents. You showed up with a client and two dogs WITHOUT A MASK and loudly referred to my dog (who was just standing there) at least a dozen times as a bad example. Think about how your rude comments affect owners in earshot enjoying a public space. And wear a mask!

I'm glad the first negative review is from someone I've never worked with, and due to you not being mature enough for being called out for your selfish actions. Let's make some things clear. We had been in our session for over 40mins before you came towards us. The dogs I was working with on that day live with a lot of anxiety and fear; it took a lot to keep them calm while you kept disrespecting our personal space. Wearing a mask wasn't going to help the dogs gain any trust or feel at ease with me. My client and I are both clear of covid; therefore, we were comfortable not wearing one. If you had an issue with us not having a mask on why did you continue to approach us. Yes, I had to voice my disapproval of your actions MULTIPLE times; you and your family kept approaching us with your dog pulling and aggressively staring at my client's dogs. What you were doing was very inconsiderate and rude; you were comfortable, allowing your dog to get closer and challenge fearful dogs continuously. That is not something anyone feels pleased with. We were in the process of teaching the dogs to trust and stay calm in a very stressful world. I don't often have to show my clients what is unacceptable; I had to advocate for my clients' dogs due to your actions. I first assumed you were unaware and maybe just distracted, but it became apparent that you did not care for other dogs' well-being. It's a shame that someone voicing that you are in the wrong would lead you to try to ruin that person's reputation.

I would highly recommend The Human Dog Team if you are in need of a phenomenal dog trainer!!! However, Gonzalo is not just a dog trainer! He specializes in building trust between the human and dog relationship! It is absolutely amazing the knowledge he has about dog behavior and language! During the first session I was amazed at the connection Gonzalo achieved with our dog Chance! He prides himself on establishing a relationship with both the humans and the dog, opposed to only focusing on the training itself. We talked about setting boundaries, manners, eye contact, and “place”. Gonzalo always incorporates teaching both the humans and dog proper communication to build trust and focusing on building confidence for the dog. Gonzalo teaches proper structure and consistency! We worked on basic key commands, impulse control, and personal space. We also focused on leash walk, reaction to other dogs, and re-directing high energy into a calm state. We learned that every behavior must be controlled inside prior to navigating outside, in order to have successful calm walks. We learned about motivation, and introducing new behaviors to Chance using playtime as a reward. During our fourth session we introduced another dog to Chance. It was astonishing, the positive behavior, such a difference after only three sessions! Chance was calm, relaxed, able to walk side by side the other dog without any negative reaction! Our very positive take-a-way……. A Happy Confident Dog, is a Happy Human!!

Gonzalo is an amazing trainer. I have had dogs my whole life, but this is my first puppy and only my second small dog. It was critical to me that Gracie be well behaved so that she can travel with me (when we are able to travel again). I saw immediate results after only 1 session because he helped me better understand how dogs learn, which made me realize that I was unintentionally teaching and reinforcing behavior that I didn't want. Gonzalo helped Gracie develop confidence when it was time to learn to walk down the steep stairs in our house, and then again when it was time to start socializing with other dogs. The return on this investment during her puppyhood has been amazing because it laid a solid foundation for Gracie and continues to get better over time because he didn't just teach Gracie to sit and stay, he equipped both of us with a system of communication so that she and I can continue to learn together. We are truly now a Human Dog Team :)
