The Houndsman Canine Academy

Adam at the Houndsman Canine Academy was a huge part in our success in bringing home our new puppy, Ares. We brought home an 8 week old cane corso puppy in April and before getting him we knew we wanted to be sure he would be trained extremely well. Getting a big dog like that is a huge responsibility and we did not take it lightly and having Adam on our side was the best thing we could have done. We had help from day one with introducing Ares to our other dog and with how to play and work with him in a structured way. A couple weeks ago, Ares completed his 4 weeks with Adam and has an amazing recall, walks without pulling, will sit/stay and does amazing place work. He is now 6 months old and is one of the most well behaved dogs I have ever known. We continue to work with him at home and will hopefully be taking him back to Adam when he is a year old to be trained as a service dog. From our experience, I will recommend The Houndsman Canine Academy to anyone that owns a dog and will bring any future dog that enters our house to him. He is absolutely the best!!!

Adam at the Houndsman Canine Acadamy has changed our family’s life and that includes our dogs. We got Freya when she was 4 months old and she had very little socialization outside of her fosters home. We did the puppy training with her at a different place and she did amazing, however, once we got her into intermediate training it quickly became a struggle and she would bark at any person or dog that would come close or walk by. We then tried bringing in a one on one trainer and their method had no results. Then we found Adam. Freya completed 5 weeks with Adam and we saw a change within the 1st week. We can now confidently walk her around the neighborhood without worrying about how busy it is and how many people/dogs are out and about. Her recall has improved massively and we were able to bring in a new puppy to the house as well. Adam also was very involved in helping us with introductions to the new puppy and knowing when and how to allow them to interact. We have also learned so much more about our dogs and their behavior as owners. Adam is amazing with the dogs and very upfront and honest about what it is going to take to get the dogs to where they need to be. It does take work on our part to continue what he teaches at home. Our life with the Freya has become a lot less chaotic and we are all, her included, more confident in our daily lives.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Adam has changed the life of me and my dog Billy. Before starting training, I was so stressed and overwhelmed with my new pup. She's an Am-Staff/German Shepherd mix with a lot of energy and a high prey drive, and I didn't know how to provide the structure she really needed to thrive, or how to help the other animals in my house feel safe from her constant urge to chase and play. I was nervous about doing a day-train program because I wanted to make sure I was involved in the process, so it would be sustainable long-term once training with Adam wrapped up. Adam is an amazing trainer who brought us along for the whole journey. Being able to work with him and ask my million questions was such a relief, and I was able to take what he worked on with Billy home and reinforce it myself. It feels like I have a whole new dog! I can walk her around, take her to public places, and actually relax knowing she'll settle in next to me and just take it all in. We've taken her camping and even gotten her up on a paddleboard! She's still just as playful as ever. We get to run around the backyard and have our dog moments, but we can also just hang out in the living room with the rest of the animals without constantly being on alert that she's going to bolt after someone through the house. Billy's confidence has grown so much, and I can see those moments of pride in her when we're working together. Overall, I can't recommend the Houndsman Academy enough. I love being a part of the pack and I am endlessly grateful for Adam and everything he has done for me and my pup.
