The Happy Hound Behavior and Obedience

We cannot express how grateful we are to Sami! Nessi was always a high energy, reactive dog which really impaired our ability to even take her for a walk around the block. When we did, we would all return home frustrated, and it never seemed as though she was getting the physical or mental exercise she needed. When we would rent Sniffspots to afford her to space to run, our anxiety levels would always remain sky high, because she had no recall skills and there was no guarantee that she wouldn’t run into another animal and cause a problem. We had tried other trainers and obedience classes, but Nessi was never able to generalize those skills to the community; she seemed to know how to act in the class setting but not out in the community with us. Our world truly began to feel so small and, at times, painful. Insert Sami, and our lives completely changed! Sami taught us how to best work with Nessi, to communicate with her, and to help create an environment that allowed her to feel relaxed and safe. Within the first 2 sessions, Nessi was walking around the block without yanking us over and after a few more sessions, she was no longer responding to other dogs during our walks. We were shocked that our primary goal of being able to go on walks was accomplished so quickly, and we were even more shocked when Sami suggested we could teach Nessi how to socialize with other dogs and to run off leash. We couldn’t believe she saw that potential in Nessi – something we always thought was just a dream. But sure enough, after only a few more lessons, Nessi was frequenting breweries with us, learning to play with other dogs, going to farmers markets (where people would repeatedly tell us how they wished their dogs behaved as well as Nessi), and having the time of her life running around open spaces without bolting from us or paying any attention to other dogs there. It is amazing how much happier Nessi seems, how much calmer we all feel, and how much bigger our world has suddenly felt – all thanks to Sami and the way she beautifully imparts her wisdom and empowers you to be the best dog parent you can be.
