I first went to the Fine Canine in 2004 with my first weim named Yoda. After a few months of having him I stated to think what I have gotten myself into. He was a hand full to say the least. He was eating the stairs in my house, jumping, mouthy and digging holes as big as a pond. That’s when I started puppy class with Monica at the Fine Canine. She was great! She showed me techniques to stop the digging, jumping and mouthing. In addition she taught me how to teach him manners. Like Sit, down, stay, paw, settle, wait (we used this lot, this is when you draw an invisible line with your finger and they are not to cross it until you free him.) Since this turned out great we started basic agility class with Monica. This kept Yoda busy and he loved it. So we took another Class with Aimee and that lead us down the path to competing in agility. Out first competition was when I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter. But it was pretty easy because Monica and Aimee taught me how to teach my dog the manners so that even though I was pregnant I knew that my Yoda would never jump on me or do anything to put me or my baby in dangers way. I continued to take class with Monica so that Yoda would be prepared for therapy visits. He somehow knew that when we visited with children large or small that he would need to settle down and not be wild. Also when my daughter was born he never jumped on her or hurt her in any way which could have been really easy since he was 75 lb. When my daughter started to walk we would be outside and Yoda would love running around my daughter. But not once did he knock her over. I owe this all to the training and techniques we learned from Aimee and Monica. Monica and Aimee are always easy to talk to about any dog problems and would stay after class to talk to you and give any extra pointers you needs. They also seemed to tailor the training based on how the dog learns. They always give individual attention to each dog in every class. Now I have a new boxer puppy and I am starting his training with Aimee and Monica as well.
