Truly a life changer. Deanne completely changed my sister's rescue puppy's life. He had some reactivity issues early on, and Deanne knew exactly how to approach the situation to ensure success, Time and time again she has gone above and beyond to support them, and she often makes herself available for extra support and feedback. I can't recommend Deanne enough. 4 months ago, I adopted a 5-month old puppy who had no prior training and severe leash reactivity to both dogs and people. Through working with Deanne, he now has a strong foundation in training and can walk through busy NYC streets with few issues. He also LOVES Deanne and her training sessions. She writes detailed summaries with instructions on how to progress further, and I have learned so much about dog training and behavior through her, even as a lifetime dog owner. We adopted two 14 month old pugs (siblings) who needed help with issues such as jumping up, reactivity, and general manners. She is keenly perceptive and understands our dogs’ behaviors to a tee. She has been able to pinpoint problem areas for each dog and skillfully come up with detailed plans for us to address them. After each session, she follows up with tips and summaries. Deanne genuinely wants us and our dogs to succeed; it’s clear that she loves dogs and truly enjoys what she does. She is so supportive and generous with her time - always willing to hop on a call and check in. Our dogs have both had behavior changes thanks to Deanne’s training. Deanna deserves 1,000 stars!! I’m a new 1st time dog parent (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and did a lot of research to find the right trainer. After a couple of bad experiences I finally found Deanna and I can assure you she’s in a league of her own!! Her philosophy is 100% positive reinforcement, which some old school trainers will tell you doesn’t work. Do not believe them. It does work and it leads to a healthier and happier puppy, and hence a healthier and happier puppy parent. She’s the perfect blend of technical and soft, precise but flexible and adaptable. But more importantly - she’s so EFFECTIVE and LOVES dogs so much that her training sessions are fun to watch! Watching my puppy Kiko literally learn a new cue from scratch and then do the behavior consistently during a session and after is magical. I appreciate Deanna’s very technical and scientific approach to dog training (she will cite the latest research on any topic relevant to dog behavior and psychology) and that she will also train me as the parent on how to better train my puppy. Then the after session summaries that she sends are full packed with information and tips (tip: her website is one of the best resources for new dog owners, packed with great info). Overtime, as you do sessions, those summaries become like a school report on my puppy showing his progress overtime, problem areas, cues he’s learned etc. It’s so useful I find myself referencing it often. I can’t say enough good things about Deanna and the services she provides. We had gotten a new puppy in early spring. We had gotten in contact with her, and she has done several one on one classes at my apartment. Our dog took to her really well, and really learned in the process. She cared immensely for our dog and his development. It is worth the investment to do these one-on-one classes, vs a bigger puppy school, as she could adapt to what worked best for him.
