The Dog Tank

My dog and I went here twice and both times I booked a private lesson with an employee because my dog hasn't been in a big water source and I didnt know how she'd do, so I wanted someone there with experience with that sort of thing. Our first lesson was fine. My dog was a bit frightened at first, but eventually did swim after we pushed her a bit. The second lesson was not nearly as successful and honestly I felt like the employee was condescending and a bit rude. We had Gina as our instructor and while I appreciate her giving me a toy to get my dog interested in the pool, that was about the only thing that she did well. I told her my dog isnt interested in a lot of toys and the one she is interested in doesnt float, yet she insisted that every dog is different and we just needed to find what motivated her. I told her food motivated her but apparently that was the wrong answer. She has "never seen a dog enter the water for food". My dog is the most food motivated dog I've ever met. She will absolutely go in the water for food. Then the entire time my dog and I were in the pool, 98% of the things she said were incredibly condescending. "You need to learn more patience", "she needs a good dose of a confidence boost", and I felt more like an inconvenience than a paying customer. I drive 20 minutes for a 30 minute session and then drive another 20 minutes home after. For $50 (not including gas money), I do not appreciate being condescended and told how to handle my dog. I know my dog and I know her limits. If I felt she was beyond her limits, I would not bring her and I would not have pushed her to swim the first time. I will not be back as its too much of a hassle for what I get.

On my dog’s birthday, the worker showed up late which cut into my time (1/3 of my barn hunt). There was also an off leash dog that interrupted our run. I emailed and asked for a credit for the time lost—ghosted. My very first lesson there years before was also interrupted by two dogs who came in significantly earlier than their time. Staff has been inconsistent over the years. Some more helpful than others.

Had such a great experience bringing my dogs in to see Jaiden and try some dock diving. I figured my husky wouldn’t want anything to do with this and she didn’t! My Malinois loved it Jaiden really taught me a lot and I’m slacking on Hades potential. Although he loves swimming he was hesitant at first but became so much more obedient and loved it.
