FirstBarkThe work that has been done with Moose (a 40 pound mixed breed) has been amazing. I can now take him out in public without fear of his actions. The training tools I have been taught have been helpful with our other dogs! Moose still has a short way to go, but I am confident that we will get there.

Who is The Calm Companion--Rosanne Eigel. "My love of dogs was innately present at the early age of 3, as I was found in the garage with a neighbor puppy, sound asleep on the floor. This was only the beginning of my lifelong interest in learning about and working with animals. I have always enjoyed spending my time with my animals, which have included over the years…dogs, cats, horses, burros, goats, and cows. I have always known that my real passion and joy came from being in their presence."

Are you short on time, need to get a handle on some behaviors, or just want the best out of your dog? We can help! We offer in-house training here at our facility, designed to introduce, develop, shape and test your dog on obedience and socialization skills. We use our facility to introduce your dog to basic obedience skills and socialization with other dogs, people, and distractions. Our program can be a short 4-day intro, 7-10 day basics program, or 3 week program where they will be reliable off leash.

Are you in need of assistance when your dog is pulling you down the road? Is your dog lunging at other dogs? Barking a lot, destroying toys and tearing up items in your home? Would you like your dog to stay or walk off leash? I can help! Together we will address your concerns, and develop a plan to work on any issues that are of concern to you. We can also work on obedience to develop a respectful pet. Canine psychology will be used to comprehend the root of what is happening. With my support and guidance, we will achieve a calm, confident companion. After the sessions, I will assist if anything else should arise. We will be sure to include all family members and use all locations to work through any behaviors associated with those locations.

How long does training take?
Our training plans are customized to each dog. Training for some dogs may take a day or two, and others may take years. Our trainers will work with you to achieve goals set for your dog and recommend a timeline to reach those goals.

What happens during dog daycare?
Dogs play and socialize together in a safe and controlled environment for a majority of the day. Most dogs are on leash during Daycare to ensure a controlled environment, not only to wear them out physically, but to create even more mental stimulation, which is more exhausting for them.

How much does it cost for me to board my dog?
Boarding is $50 a day. This covers the amount of care that we put into each dog while at our facility. We take pride in the amount of time and care each dog receives, and that takes time and effort on behalf of our staff. Dogs are let out of their kennel every hour to hour and a half, minimum. Meaning, they are getting out of their kennel anywhere from 8-10 times a day for potty breaks, play time, walks, and more! Regardless of taking up a kennel space, it’s the care that we provide that makes it worth the cost!

New clients interested in bringing their dog for training or daycare must scheduled an evaluation with our trainers first. This is so we can determine that the services you’re interested in are in fact the best direction to go for your dog’s needs.

I’m experiencing biting and aggression with my dog, what would be the best training to sign up for?
A evaluation would need to be scheduled for any dog showing this type of behavior. Our trainers may recommend Board & Train for the dog’s training plan to have more success in changing the dog’s behavior and correcting the aggression issues. Any dog showing this type of behavior is going to require a more lengthy and costly rehabilitation plan.

Where can I get the proper training tools to ensure training happens at my home and not just at your facility?
We provide most of our clients with the necessary training tools they will need to implement training in their home. We sell collars, leashes, muzzles, and more to help with training. It is not recommended for clients to go online and purchase such items without receiving the proper training themselves on how and when to use such tools. Often times, it is the owner who needs the training more than the dog!

What should I bring if my dog is coming for boarding?
The only required item to bring is enough food for your dog for the duration of its stay with us. Clients are welcome to bring pillows, blankets, toys, etc., if they feel it will make their dog more comfortable during its stay with us.

Rosanne did a wonderful job with our dog, Bode who had behavioral and territorial issues. She helped us establish rules that were directed to the problems we had. Bode can walk around strangers and is starting to let people into the home without confrontation. I highly recommend The Calm Companion to help train dogs with behavior issues.

Rosanne with The Calm Companion was just the woman for this job. She treated our dogs as her own while giving them the love but structured support they needed. Even after the first training session we were able to notice a difference in the interaction of our entire pack. Rosanne is highly educated in this field and ALWAYS takes the time to explain the 'why" behind her training with the pet owner. This truly solidifies the training relationship between you and your dog! We have had a great experience working with Rosanne and her program "The Calm Companion." We have two young golden retrievers and are expecting twins this summer ... The young pups are sweet but can be overly excited. It is still a work in progress, but after working with Rosanne for a number of weeks in which she came to our house or we met her at a specific location (e.g., Sells Park), the dogs are showing calmer behavior. They are less "jumpy" when meeting or seeing new people and are able to calm themselves. The younger pup has shown immense gains. We have more work ahead, but I feel confident with our plan moving forward.

Rosanne is the perfect trainer! She is great at explaining what she is doing and why so that you understand what you need to do at home to keep up the progress. She adapts to your personal situation when working with the dog. We loved all the positive reenforcement. Her love for dogs shows because our dog who is not usually comfortable with strangers loved her right away. She came over before we started and did a personalized plan for our dog. After we got started she was very flexible with her time to make sure we got the training worked in at the right times. Any time we had a question she answered within a few minutes! She was able to work with us and our dog in various locations and situations to make sure she addressed all our concerns. Thank you Rosanne for transforming our little ball of anxiety into a dog that is a pleasure to walk and be around! We can't thank you enough!
