The Ace Dog Trainer

We have been working with Debra for about 6 months and beyond grateful that we found her. We have 2 rescues from Big Dog Ranch and we love them so much! We have worked with 2 others trainers locally starting with puppy classes but were only making minimal progress. This was so frustrating. We have had labs & Golden’s and we’re used to their demeanor. These 2 boys are very different. Debra and her staff are beyond amazing! Patient, teaching us so much and our dogs love her (including the incredibly timid one who was abused). . Training and loving our dogs and beyond patient with us. If you’re looking for help with your dog, call her. I actually would give her a 10 star rating

Immediate results for an anxious, barky dog Debra at Ace Dog Training is fantastic. My dog was anxious and would bark nonstop; she showed me how to be the calm, confident “alpha” he needed, with simple techniques that made sense to him. I saw improvement after just one visit. No upselling—she even said I didn’t need a package of lessons. Professional, honest, and truly dog-centered. Highly recommend.

I cannot recommend Ace Dog Training enough! They are by far the best boarding facility around. Charlie has the best time - when I go on vacation, he gets vacation too! I appreciate that they only let out one dog at a time (I think if dogs are in same family, they let out together) - Charlie doesn't always do well in the typical dog daycare environment. I can tell they genuinely adore Charlie - and the feeling is mutual. He is excited to go to boarding and sad to come home. I live in downtown WPB but find the drive worth it given the exceptional service and accommodations. All of the staff are so kind. I highly recommend "pond time" if you are boarding for multiple days- Charlie loves it. Ace Dog Trainer saved us! We adopted a 1.5-year-old Pit mix four months ago. We worked so hard to get his behavior under control and we basically just accepted that his very difficult behavior on walks was something we were going to have to get used to. He pulled to the point that my hands, wrists, arms, and back were always in pain, his overly friendly greetings sometimes drew blood, and I got pulled down on the ground twice trying to keep him from going after other dogs. We knew we would need to board our dog for 10 days in late May, and we decided to do Board and Train. We REALLY did our research, calling and visiting facilities from Lake Worth to Loxahatchee to Port Saint Lucie. I was distressed to learn that the first thing a lot of board and train facilities do is “fit them with a training collar” ( = put a shock collar/training collar on them), and that a lot of them keep the dogs in crates. Yikes. Thank goodness, two neighbors and one colleague (who live 40 miles away from one another) recommended Ace Dog Training. When I called and spoke to Debra, I was instantly mesmerized by her no-nonsense, confident description of her facility and her methodology. She was clearly a true animal lover, she didn’t over-promise, and I felt I could trust her. Everybody was friendly and down-to-earth when I dropped by on little notice. It is indeed a calm place. The dogs are happy and peaceful, and the people who care for them obviously ADORE dogs (and cranes and other animals..). Each dog has its own walk-in closet sized room (with painted walls) with an open, airy metal gate that the carers can see and pet the dogs through. The dogs do not feel trapped or enclosed. Some people bring their dog’s bed, but most take advantage of the elevated cots. The dogs all had toys and luvvies in their rooms with them. The dogs all seemed so peaceful and there were little notes about preferences and characteristics of each dog on a whiteboard on each gate. After that first visit to Ace Dog Trainers, our minds were made up. As plans were made, I was also struck by the fact that Debra was never trying to talk us into spending more. Eight days before our scheduled drop off, we had an incident where we encountered another dog on a walk and I got pulled down. I called Debra to see if we could set up a single lesson. At first she told me I didn’t need to spend time or money on that since he would be spending 10 days there getting training. ( I really appreciate that about her!) After I explained what had happened, we set up an initial evaluation and training for 2 days later. That single session was a lifesaver. I cannot overly emphasize Debra’s love, knowledge and MAGIC. Debra saw our dog at his absolute worst (freaking out at another dog, going crazy on the leash) but within 7 minutes, before our very eyes, she had calmed him to the point that he was lying happily at her feet. She taught *US* how to achieve that, too. The initial lesson lasted 2 hours and it brought us so much peace, knowledge, and confidence. As you have no doubt predicted, after 10 days at Ace , we have a much calmer, happier version of our dog. Debra checked in with me every day the first week after to find out if I was having any issues and she offered practical tips that solved every problem. Debra and her staff obviously use love and knowledge, but there seems to be some other magic going on too. She and her staff have given us and our dog a much better quality of life.
