Good question, there is no one breed that is best, the dogs selected are based on the disability they will be assisting with. We offer both a cooperative program where the dog lives with you and a board and train program where the dog stays with us.

There isn’t a better place in the city for dog training. Academy of Canine Excellence has trained both my service dog and my oldest child’s service dog. I’m pretty sure my family gets tired of hearing how much these dogs help us. ACE absolutely has changed and improved our lives for the better. After almost 35 years of struggling with their disability, the difference in my oldest child and what they can handle is massive. The only thing that has genuinely ever worked. Having a dog myself means when I am home alone I can be safe and have help around the house while my child runs errands. They are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. My service dog is so loving, supportive and always there when I need him. Thank you Academy of Canine Excellence.

I came to the Academy with my young, large, working breed dog for help with reactivity, and was quickly able to join group reactivity classes. My trainer, Maria, is very knowledgeable, an excellent dog handler, and helped us gain confidence back to explore new things, even working on vet handling skills. These classes turned things around for us and I am grateful to the whole team.

Working with the friendly staff was wonderful. They are knowledgeable in all aspects of training and behavior. They have amazing facilities with great amenities for boading. I highly recommend them for all service training and boarding. I can't wait to use them again.

I have gone through training for one service dog with Academy of Canine Excellence and now im in training with my one year old pup to take over when my first SD retires.
The trainers are AMAZING!
In addition to private and group classes, Academy of Canine Excellence also offers boarding and daycare with extra training If needed. I would not board or train with anyone else in Albuquerque.
