That Dog Trainer

I had a very disappointing experience at this dog training facility. I brought my dog in for an evaluation to see if their training program would be a good fit. Unfortunately, we were treated very poorly from the moment we arrived. The staff made us feel unwelcome, and some of their comments and behavior came across as discriminatory, even bordering on racist. Instead of conducting the evaluation we had scheduled, they barely interacted with my dog and quickly shifted the conversation to how poorly we had him trained and how we had no control over him. We never claimed that he was already trained—we were there seeking help. Instead of being understanding and willing to help, the lady simply refused to even do the evaluation unless we were willing to spend $8,000 on their boarding school program. We were essentially told that if we weren't ready to pay immediately, there was no point in continuing. The evaluation never really happened, and the customer service was extremely unprofessional. I expected respect, honesty, and a genuine assessment of my dog's needs, but instead we left feeling dismissed and disrespected. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for professional dog training or good customer service.

Charlotte has been absolutely amazing working with our 7-month-old American Akita, Chloe. Akitas are intelligent, strong-willed dogs that require a knowledgeable and confident trainer, and Charlotte has exceeded our expectations in every way. From the very beginning, she took the time to understand Chloe's personality and tailor her training approach to fit Chloe's needs. Charlotte is patient, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about dog behavior. She is not only teaching commands and obedience but she also helping us understand how to communicate effectively with our puppy! Chloe was extremely anxious after being greeted by 4 large pitbulls. She refused to go on walks or even down the block. In just a few sessions we saw tremendous improvements in Chloe's focus, responsiveness, leash manners, and overall CONFIDENCE!!. The training sessions are always positive, productive, and enjoyable, and Charlotte makes sure we have the tools and guidance needed to continue making progress between sessions. What stands out most is how much Charlotte genuinely cares about the dogs she works with!!! I highly recommend Charlotte, Craig and Jess at "That Dog Trainer" to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, and effective dog trainer. Chloe has made incredible progress, and we're grateful to have Charlotte guiding us through this important stage of her development.
