We have two older dogs ages 7 and 8, and honestly we weren’t sure they could still learn new habits, especially with their excessive barking and jumping. I did a lot of research before choosing Sam Ivy, and I’m so glad we did. Nate was fantastic. He clearly knows dogs and was patient with us through the whole 6-week program. What surprised me most was progress we saw in the first week, the improvement has been significant, and I honestly didn’t think our dogs were trainable at their age. I had an amazing experience with Sam Ivy Training from start to finish. From our initial Zoom consultation with Sam to working one-on-one with our trainer, Cerah, the entire process was professional, supportive, and truly life-changing for both me and my dogs. I adopted two pit bulls with completely different personalities, and from the moment I left the shelter with Willow, I knew I had my hands full. During the six-hour drive home, she was bouncing off the windows, trying to chew my seats, and lunging at passing cars. Once home, things only escalated. She chewed shoes, constantly tried to go after my other animals, ignored commands, dragged me around the yard (and even into a pond multiple times), and eventually had an incident at a park that made me realize she desperately needed training. I knew I wanted help, but I didn’t want to send her away to a board-and-train program. I wanted to learn alongside her and build that relationship myself. Finding Sam Ivy Training was the best thing that could have happened for us. Cerah didn’t just train Willow, she taught me how to communicate with and guide my dog in a way that actually worked. Thanks to her patience, feedback, and encouragement, Willow completed the first level of classes and has transformed so much already. She’s calmer, sweeter with both me and my belongings, listens well, walks nicely on a leash, and is now dog-tolerant. The progress has honestly been incredible. Everyone at Sam Ivy Training is professional, compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about helping dogs and their owners succeed. Grace was our trainer, and she was absolutely awesome. She took on the challenge of working with two very young, very different pups who seemed determined to throw curveballs at every opportunity, and she handled it all like a pro. When a particular training approach wasn’t clicking for one of the dogs, Grace never forced it. She helped me adjust my technique, tried different methods, and, when needed, wasn’t afraid to seek input from others who may have encountered a similar situation. Her flexibility, patience, and genuine commitment to helping both the dogs and their human succeed made all the difference. I couldn’t have asked for a better trainer and would highly recommend Grace to anyone looking for someone who is knowledgeable, adaptable, and truly invested in her clients’ success.
