Review for Tanattus Dog Training School, Bloomfield NJ I cannot say enough good things about Hugo and Tanattus Dog Training School. From the moment we spoke with him, it was clear Hugo was not your average dog trainer. Our Italian Greyhound, who just turned two, presented a number of challenges that many trainers simply weren’t willing to take on. He wasn’t food or toy motivated, had multiple allergies, and was starting to show signs of dominant behavior, especially around other dogs. For a small 14-pound dog with no protective fur, we knew this combination of behavioral and health challenges could easily put him at risk. We were particularly concerned about his lack of recall and his intense drive to run toward other dogs and animals at parks. These were not small issues. Off-leash time felt unsafe, and even on-leash walks could be stressful due to how head-on and off-putting his approach was with other dogs. Hugo took all of this in stride. We enrolled in an intensive eight-week program, seven days a week with no days off. Hugo trained our dog even on holidays like Easter, showing a level of dedication and professionalism that is increasingly rare. Each day, our pup was with him for seven hours on weekdays and around three to five hours on weekends. It was clear Hugo was putting in the time, care, and expertise needed to understand our dog as an individual and not applying a one-size-fits-all approach. The results have been remarkable. Our dog’s recall has improved immensely. I now feel confident letting him off leash in controlled settings, which is something I never thought I’d be able to say. His fixation on other dogs has decreased significantly, and his social interactions are more appropriate and manageable. Walks at the park are no longer tense or unpredictable. They are enjoyable. As an owner, the peace of mind this training has brought me is priceless. I feel safer, more in control, and truly relieved to see our pup more balanced and responsive. Every concern we brought to Hugo, he addressed. Every behavior we wanted to improve, we have seen progress. And knowing our dog was in the hands of someone who understood the unique needs of his breed and temperament gave us confidence from the start. If you are dealing with a tough case or just want a dog trainer who genuinely cares and knows what they are doing, I cannot recommend Hugo and Tanattus Dog Training School enough. He is not intimidated by challenges. He embraces them. His school, located at 412 Broad Street in Bloomfield NJ, is a hidden gem for dog owners who need real, effective, and compassionate training. I first met Hugo when a Co-worker recommended him after he trained their German Shepard so, I decided to give him a try with my 8 month old male Doberman. I quickly realized Hugo is extremely passionate about working and caring for the dogs. He quickly wants to get you and your Fur baby to bond and work with each other. My Doberman "Hades" enjoyed every session with Hugo and would get excited to see him. He not only taught Hades but me as the handler to form a better bond and teaching methods to continue training. Hugo was so caring and knowledgeable of dogs when I adopted a female Pitbull "Athena" at 1 month old I immediately knew Hugo was going to train her. I took Athena to him everyday and left her in his care of course, Athena is a well obedient dog and taught my daughter to handle and train Athena. Athena loved seeing Hugo every time. I read some negative reviews on him and I can tell you those people have NO IDEA what their speaking about. Hugo has a method to his training and if you listen to him and his dog psychology you will understand it's not abuse. Hugo gives homework assignments that he wants you to perform to better understand your dog and form a bond. If you don't do your homework he calls you out and makes you answer to why don't you want to bond with your dog which owners do not like because they have NO ANSWER and they feel embarrassed and will post false accusations to make themselves feel better. If you're SERIOUS about training and bonding with your dog, Hugo is the way to go. HUGO IS A GREAT TRAINER AND I WILL CONTINUE TO RECOMMEND HIM EVERY CHANCE I GET. I still take my dogs to him for occasional refresher training. TRUST & UNDERSTAND HIS PROCESS AND HE WILL FULLY EXPLAIN ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE. He does not hide or mislead. YOU AND YOUR DOG WILL NOT REGRET.

Hugo is a phenomenal trainer. I have four very energetic pits. He has trained with them since birth. Till this day their tails wag when they see him. He is honest and fair priced. His training gives nothing but good results! Just a FYI If you don't have first hand experience with bringing your dog here your review really doesn't count. Because what you probably saw was the reason the owner brought the dog there in the first place.
