Sonia, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We’re genuinely glad that both of your previous boarding stays with us went smoothly and that your pups did well here on those occasions. We truly enjoyed having them and we appreciate that you entrusted us with their care more than once. We do want to respectfully clarify several points of fact from the morning in question. Your husband’s drop-off interaction with Jeremy was cordial and uneventful. The remaining balance was tendered and both dogs were transferred into our care. Jeremy and Ryan’s exchange was friendly, and Ryan returned to his vehicle without issue. Custody was in fact transferred, even though it was only for a brief period before events changed direction. While that was occurring outside, a separate text conversation between you and Amber was happening inside. The misunderstanding arose from our end — the remaining balance was $220.67, and we mistakenly referenced $270. That was our clerical error, and it was identified and corrected quickly. Amber called you for the sole purpose of clearing up the misunderstanding. During that call, a statement was made that Amber perceived as a personal threat. Regardless of the cause, we do not tolerate threats under any circumstances. Safety in our Retreat — for people and for animals — is our highest obligation. Because of that perception, services were terminated immediately and Ryan was asked to return. Ryan came back right away. The dogs were returned immediately and the balance paid at drop-off was refunded to him in full. That entire exchange was calm and courteous between both men. You are correct that we later offered for the pups to return after emotions cooled. You chose not to proceed, and we respect that decision. We maintain that the deposit serves the purpose explained — it reserves specific calendar dates and holds space that we cannot offer to another family — but we also understand that the situation was stressful for everyone involved. Regarding the complimentary bath, it is just the two of us operating the retreat, and during peak holiday periods we are at full capacity giving priority to direct care and supervision. Our policy states that the complimentary bath promotion is suspended during peak holiday periods for that reason. That said, we take a great deal of pride in being able to say that no dog has ever left our care without a bath, tooth brushing, and ear cleaning. Clean, comfortable pups are important to us. To be clear on the sequence: • custody was transferred and then reversed • the remaining balance error was ours and was corrected • services were terminated by us because of perceived threatening language • the drop-off balance was refunded immediately • you later declined to return We also want to reassure anyone reading that reviews — positive and negative — are handled by Google, not by us.
