Hi Brittney, We’re sorry to hear that you feel this way and would like to take a moment to clarify a few points regarding your comments. At Tactical K9, we are a balanced training company. This means we use both corrections—such as correction collars—to address unwanted behaviors, and positive reinforcement, whether through treats or praise, to reward desired behaviors. This approach was clearly explained to your husband, William, prior to enrollment. William was provided with a Herm Sprenger prong collar during the initial session, and he did not express any objections. He was also shown all the commands that Hemi was taught and actively participated in reinforcing those commands. This included both rewarding Hemi and correcting him when necessary. William was asked if he had any questions or concerns about the training and if he felt confident in continuing the reinforcement at home. He confirmed that he did and stated he would review the training with you. We also recommended that you come in to go over the training with us in person. On Sunday, we spoke with William again, and he shared his frustration about Hemi needing to be on a leash and wearing a correction collar. We explained that it is normal for a dog to test boundaries during the first week and that consistency from the owner is key to success. At that time, William stated he did not have the time or desire to reinforce the training and was expecting a "finished product" without the need for ongoing use of a leash. We explained that all training requires reinforcement, particularly when it comes to off-leash obedience. William had previously only expressed interest in protection training and basic obedience training. However, after evaluating Hemi, we found he was not a suitable candidate for protection work. As a result, we moved forward with basic obedience training. William never indicated interest in advanced obedience until recently. Once he communicated that goal, we let him know we would be happy to help train Hemi for advanced, off-leash obedience. We understand that you're disappointed with the outcome of the initial training package William enrolled in. However, we are more than willing to work with both of you to help Hemi achieve off-leash obedience, should you choose to pursue that route. Please also remember that Hemi is eligible for free refresher training for the basic obedience he received here at Tactical K9.
