Supreme K9 Dog Training & Advocacy

Having Otto as our trainer was the best experience! We struggled the most with Nuggy’s separation anxiety, or Otto calls it FOMO, and we weren’t able to leave him alone in our apartment for even 1 minute without him barking his head off. On top of that, we wanted to work on his reactivity to bigger dogs and small kids, leash manners, general obedience, and grooming. Otto has showed us techniques and tools that transformed his behavior. We really appreciated that Otto walked us through step by step on how to react in each situations, and why. We also enjoyed watching Nuggy’s progress on their instagram stories. Nuggy has already shown so much progress, and we are excited to continue to implement his training everyday. There truly are not enough words for what Otto and the entire Supreme K9 team have done for our family. We got our XL American Bully, Dior, as a puppy to be our second dog alongside our French Bulldog, Arlo. Dior is goofy, funny, deeply sensitive, ridiculously loving, and honestly just a giant mush at home. He has NEVER shown aggression toward humans. But around a year after getting him, he bit my mom’s dog and it felt like our world came crashing down. After that, everything changed. Walks became stressful, then scary. Dior started fixating on other dogs from distances that felt impossible to work through. He would lunge, growl, and lock onto triggers to the point where breaking his attention felt impossible. He reacted to dogs on TV. We couldn’t comfortably pass another dog on a sidewalk, and eventually I became afraid to walk him by myself. As time went on, we started noticing prey-drive behaviors that terrified us because of his sheer size and power. At 112 pounds, he is a BIG boy… and while we knew the sweet dog he was at home, we were living with heartbreak about what his future would look like. The hardest conversations were about starting a family. We found ourselves wondering if we would ever truly feel safe or confident enough in him. By the time we found Otto, we felt hopeless. I researched what felt like every trainer in New Jersey before finding Supreme K9 through a review from someone else who also felt out of options. Reaching out was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Before we even met Otto, Artemis spent over an hour on the phone listening to every fear, goal, and detail about Dior. She met me with compassion instead of judgment and confidently assured me Otto was equipped. That conversation alone gave me more hope than we had felt in a long time. Then we met Otto … and he didn’t flinch. Not once. No fear-mongering. No labeling Dior as an “aggressive dog.” No making us feel ashamed or irresponsible for the path we were on. One of the first things Otto said was that he was excited to work with a dog who would challenge him a bit. That meant more to us than he probably realizes because it made us feel like Dior wasn’t just another difficult case. He looked at our boy and told us he was going to be okay…just with the right boundaries, structure, consistency, and a hell of a lot of work. Truthfully, we started this program assuming there would probably always be some level of fear or doubt lingering no matter how much progress Dior made. But after DAY ONE with Otto, I felt more peace about our dog and his future than I had felt in over a year. That is life-changing. Dior completed 4 weeks of the Home School program with Otto, and we will forever be his biggest fans. Otto didn’t try to turn Dior into a different dog. The goal was never a “new” dog. Instead, he brought out the confidence and security that had always been buried underneath Dior’s fear and insecurity. He taught US just as much as he taught Dior: to regulate our own emotions, read body language, apply technique correctly, advocate for our dog, and safely work through reactivity with a very big, very emotional boy. One of my favorite things? Otto never weaponized language around Dior’s breed or behavior. He never reduced him to “an aggressive dog.” He calls him “spicy.” Somehow, that simple shift took away so much power. Watching Dior safely enter the studio and exist around other dogs in ways we NEVER thought possible honestly brought me to tears. Seeing Dina, Evan, and Keidy greet him with baby voices, affection, patience, and genuine love meant more than I can explain because dogs like Dior don’t always get met with softness from the world. Otto changed our lives. Truly. Supreme K9 helped us better understand and communicate with the dog we already loved so deeply. This place is an absolute gem. Our friends referred us to Supreme K9 when we got our Alaskan Klee Kai and we really wanted to make sure she had the right fundamentals to grow up healthy and happy, and well-behaved. Dina, Evan and Keidy treated all the dogs like they were their own - love, respect and adoration. But also with firm and consistent discipline. It’s clear they love dogs with their whole being and we never once felt anxious leaving Luna with them. Their method works - she stopped getting so distracted on walks, had less accidents at home and became overall calmer. The owner sessions were especially helpful for me, a first-time dog owner. We will definitely bring Luna back for future adult training and general maintenance. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
