I work with a trainer who focuses on reactivity for our Chihuahua, Clive and I’ve started seeing her with our Stafford, Donny because Donny is overly social and thinks every dog and person wants to say hi. Our success so far is a combination of both our local trainer and the MVP program. The MVP program has definitely helped build a stronger bond between me and the dogs through movement while having fun and working on our communication together. It’s helped me be more confident in trying new things while breaking self limiting beliefs because I don’t want want to hold my dogs back from a more fulfilling life. I love that in the course has such an emphasis and focus on handler skills before skills with the dog. Before joining the MVP course, I had never thought of that. It highlights that in order for the dogs to succeed, I need to do better and succeed. We’ve definitely gained a stronger bond, clearer communication and better focus on me rather than external distractions. It’s given me more skills to build Clive’s confidence. He’s always been twitchy and not liked being touched but gets so excited when it’s time to train and he seems a lot less tense and is more okay with being handled. The MVP program has been a God send for our crazy, high drive Stafford, Donny. She used to pass out from pulling so hard to get to other dogs which we’ve been working on. The other day, we were training in the park and she saw another dog, before she could even think about doing anything I told her to “tussen” and she did. We were able to continue our training session like the other dog wasn’t even there. I was absolutely mind blown and so proud. I also love the STSK9 community, everyone I have dealt with has been extremely supportive, happy to offer any feedback, everyone holds each other accountable and we all want to see each other win. One of the biggest take aways is that in order for Donny & Clive to succeed in life, I am the biggest key to that. If I don’t continually grow, improve and build my knowledge and skills then I’m holding them back and stopping them from growing and developing too which is unfair to them. When I got my 4 month old puppy, I already found out about STSK9, I looked into the courses but was not sure if it would work for my special and primitive dog (a xoloitzcuintle/mexican hairless dog). So for a year I have been watching the videos everyday, while going to regular dog training classes, dreaming about doing what Nino does with his dogs. Then Laura got involved and I could see other breeds could do it too ! At that point, my dog didn't even want to eat when I was around, because of the bad training methodology I was using. I decided to buy the MVP program after buying all the small courses, as I wanted to go all in. After 1 week, her food drive started shifting and she just loves to train now. I couldn't believe my dog would ever show energy during our trainings ! She went from couch potato to happy and energetic. I can't recommend the course enough, it has changed my dog so much. The only thing I regret now, is not starting as a puppy and ruining a year of training at dog schools. The precision and detailed explanations is beyond words. Exceeded my expectations big time ! I got the positive only program in December 2023. It’s great! Emanuela is such a good trainer and I love how she and Nino exchange ideas on how to do things, sometimes makes you feel like you are actually there on the field with them. The videos are very clear and informative. It’s such a refreshing vision on dog training. You don’t just learn a trick and that’s it, it’s about the how. It gives you everything you need to know about how the dogs think, how to build their drive and how to manage the energy. I have a two year old Bernese mountain dog that had to be retrained from always looking at me for what she wants to becoming naturally motivated again. We’re still working on it and are never done, but both Nino as Laura are always supportive, and my bernese has come such a long way. I also have a 5 month old showline Australian shepherd pup. And he is doing great! Probably even more important we are having so much fun. Everyone we meet is surprised by how well he is doing! Every dog can do everything, you just have to learn how.
