Stronghaus Dog Training Center

I am so grateful my vet recommended Chris Carr of Stronghauss for training of my Belgian Malinois puppy. I must admit, I have heard stories of how strong minded this breed can be but due to my “I can do anything attitude” decided I could walk this training path alone. Well I learned real quick I couldn’t. Chris immediately set up an initial meeting with me to assess my puppy. He had some aggression issues that carried over to disobedience and not listening to anything I wanted him to do. I was quite nervous at first wondering if I took on too much and if Chris would be able to help. Well let me tell you that within the 10 days of boarding, coming back to pick up my dog he can do a perfect heel, lay down, sit, place command, and inside command. He holds all commands until his release command of okay. I cannot believe the difference and I am so happy that I have the support. Chris and I will continue working on my proper dog ownership techniques as well as being a support system if I have questions. Very happy dog and dog mama here!!!!!!

I took my dog to Chris after years of bad behavior. She wouldn’t listen 75% of the time to basic commands like sit, down, heel, come, etc. She was very bad. she’s had about three years to literally do whatever she wants with no discipline or punishment when she didn’t listen to us. I took her to a dog trainer before, and it didn’t help at all. It was just not good. Months later, after I gave up and got frustrated, I decided I needed to fix this now. I found Chris after calling probably 20 dog trainers in the area. They all said the same thing—that there was nothing wrong with my dog and sometimes dogs just don’t listen. I didn’t believe that at all. There are a lot of weird dog trainers out there with weird methods, and they never actually train your dog it seems haha So, I called Chris. Chris literally took the time to speak with me for about an hour and then followed up with text messages over the next few days. He was very cooperative and understanding of the situation and helped me in so many ways before I even met him in person. We went to our first appointment, which was literally only a 30-minute session working on the “come” command. I’m not kidding, that day I went home and my dog responded probably 85% better to the “come” command after just one session. It was unbelievable. I did private lessons with Chris. It was five private lessons, which is hard to find. Anyways, I’m only four sessions in, and my dog is literally night and day better in every way. Of course, I’m still working on her becoming better and better, but like everything, it just takes time. Going into this, you really have to make sure you do the homework that Chris gives you. If you don’t do the homework, your dog will get nowhere. And it’s not even the dog’s fault—it’s you because you don’t know what to do. That was the biggest thing I didn’t realize. It’s not necessarily training the dog, it’s training you. The dogs pick up on it very quickly, at least mine did. Overall, I would literally recommend Chris to everyone. Go into it with a positive attitude, do your homework, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and your dog will see an instant transformation hahah!
