Reliable recall is a core part of our dog training philosophy. We go beyond the actual behavior, helping your dog develop a strong desire to return to you. Through trust-building exercises, reward-based reinforcement, and confidence training, we ensure that your dog sees you as their safest and most exciting place to be—no matter the stressors or distractions.

Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. Instead of relying solely on obedience, we prioritize understanding your dog’s needs and motivations. This approach leads to long-term behavioral change, making your dog more confident, responsive, and eager to follow your lead.

Do you use positive reinforcement in your dog training?
Yes! Our dog training programs incorporate positive reinforcement techniques alongside gentle course corrections when necessary. We focus on clear communication and trust-building, ensuring your dog understands what behaviors are appropriate. Our goal is to create a calm, confident dog who listens because they trust you—and not because they fear you.

How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. Our puppy training programs focus on socialization, leash training, basic requests, and trust-building, ensuring your pup grows into a well-balanced adult dog.

A psychiatric service dog is trained to assist individuals with mental health conditions through specific tasks and behavioral support. Our service dog training program is designed for both the dog and the handler, ensuring they work as a team. At the end of our training, we offer a psychiatric service dog certification to qualifying teams.

What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

Best relationship therapist!
It's been several years since Finn (my dog) and I trained with Alex and I wanted to attest to the longevity of the Alex's philosophy and training methods.
Alex gave me the tools to change my relationship with Finn and as a result his behavior and happiness has drastically changed for the better. Any time anything new crops up I know I have the tools to work through the issue myself and I'm much more confident as a dog owner.
Alex's training isn't your typical obedience course, but a holistic approach to canine behavior and relationships.

Strong Bond dog training has helped ease stress and anxiety over loving our high energy dog. We learned how to foster good behavior and did build a strong bond with our dog Zuzu.

Strong Bond has far exceeded our expectations for a dog trainer. We have a rescue Pointer Pitbull that hasn’t been socialized. Sassy Girl is a sweetheart at home but doesn’t know how to interact with new people and is anxious in new places. Strong Bond is training us to help her navigate these situations with her.

Working with Alex at Strong Bond Dog Training completely changed our relationship with our dog, Rocco and honestly, it changed us too.
We initially came in hoping to help Rocco get the tools he needed as a puppy to be able to walk off leash, listen to commands and not eat everything he came across, but what we gained was so much more. We had a horrific experience with dog training in the past and so we were looking for more of a hands on experience of us working with the trainer as well.
Through Alex’s training, Rocco absolutely learned how to listen and respond, but the biggest transformation was in us. My husband and I learned how to truly listen to Rocco to understand his needs, meet them well, look to ourselves, and stop labeling behaviors as “bad.” Alex helped us see that every behavior is communication. This mindset shift alone was life changing.
Instead of frustration, we now have trust. Instead of correction, we give clear, calm feedback so Rocco understands what we’re asking and give him the chance to make mistakes so we can guide him in a better direction. Instead of not letting him try something that didn’t work out in the past we look to ourselves to see why we have that hesitation. We feel like we’re finally speaking the same language, and our home is so peaceful because of it.
Alex is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and thoughtful. He doesn’t just train dogs, he teaches owners how to build a strong, lasting bond with their dog based on trust and communication. We loved his book, his recommendations and the time he puts in with each client to make sure they have the tools they need to be successful. Even though we have “finished” his training we will continue using the wisdom and tools he shares to help Rocco and ourselves live our very best life.
We highly, highly recommend Strong Bond Dog Training to anyone with a dog for any age, any issue, or just to learn how to build trust and get through challenges in any relationship. It’s truly an investment in your relationship, not just obedience training.
We have all made a friend for life 😁
