Reliable recall is a core part of our dog training philosophy. We go beyond the actual behavior, helping your dog develop a strong desire to return to you. Through trust-building exercises, reward-based reinforcement, and confidence training, we ensure that your dog sees you as their safest and most exciting place to be—no matter the stressors or distractions.

Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. Instead of relying solely on obedience, we prioritize understanding your dog’s needs and motivations. This approach leads to long-term behavioral change, making your dog more confident, responsive, and eager to follow your lead.

Do you use positive reinforcement in your dog training?
Yes! Our dog training programs incorporate positive reinforcement techniques alongside gentle course corrections when necessary. We focus on clear communication and trust-building, ensuring your dog understands what behaviors are appropriate. Our goal is to create a calm, confident dog who listens because they trust you—and not because they fear you.

How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Yes! We specialize in training reactive dogs by addressing the root cause of their behavior. Whether your dog displays fear-based reactivity, aggression, or anxiety, our training techniques focus on building confidence, trust, and calmness. Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. Our puppy training programs focus on socialization, leash training, basic requests, and trust-building, ensuring your pup grows into a well-balanced adult dog.

A psychiatric service dog is trained to assist individuals with mental health conditions through specific tasks and behavioral support. Our service dog training program is designed for both the dog and the handler, ensuring they work as a team. At the end of our training, we offer a psychiatric service dog certification to qualifying teams.

What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

My partner and I are incredibly grateful to have met and worked with Alex. We rescued a 5 month old energetic, intelligent, sweet pit bull mix and soon discovered we needed support with a dog trainer. I love Alex’s philosophy of taking an inward look for us humans; how we see and work with our dog, our own thoughts about us as dog owners and how to be a leader for our little family. So much more than learning basic commands or obedience training. Alex guided us in building boundaries, communication and fun with our pup. We left each session with games and training tools to work on and then built off those skills in the following session. We have built a trusting bond with our dog, full of love, boundaries and healthy communication.
Alex is easy to work with, patient, very knowledgeable and passionate about helping dogs and humans alike. Scheduling and communication was very easy, flexible and came with reminders before each session. I would highly recommend Alex!

We’re so grateful to have found Alex and his approach, and looked forward to each of the ten sessions we had. Throughout our sessions Alex focused on helping us build a better relationship with our dog by understand ourselves better, and then understanding her (our pup) better. If you’re looking to simply teach your dog to sit and blindly follow your lead then Alex probably isn’t the trainer for you. If you’re looking to create a strong relationship with your pup built on trust, understanding and calmness, then this IS the place for you. We weren’t even aware of this approach before but are so glad we found Alex and went beyond simple obedience. We now have tools to use and grow for many years to come. Thanks Alex!

I received a lot of guidance from Alex with Strong Bond. He helped me understand my dog and myself better, and it definitely helped my relationship with my dog. I'm much more patient now, and connect with my dog easier. I can tell the bond with my dog is better, he tries hard to please me and we have a great connection now. I would recommend, it's a great investment in your future with your pup.

Alex was so wonderful!! My husband and I adopted a cattle dog who clearly had a challenging past. She was scared of everything, especially men and small children, which caused her to be very defensive around people. We had a couple of instances that caused us to seek professional support. Our friends foster cattle dogs and have worked with Alex before, so he came highly recommend to us. I was pretty skeptical at first but Alex was amazing and our girl grew beyond my wildest dreams! Alex taught us so much and all of our friends and family comment now on how amazing our dog is doing and how they wish their dog could be as "good" as her. Plus, Alex as a human, was wonderful to work with. Highly highly recommend!!
