Reliable recall is a core part of our dog training philosophy. We go beyond the actual behavior, helping your dog develop a strong desire to return to you. Through trust-building exercises, reward-based reinforcement, and confidence training, we ensure that your dog sees you as their safest and most exciting place to be—no matter the stressors or distractions.

Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. Instead of relying solely on obedience, we prioritize understanding your dog’s needs and motivations. This approach leads to long-term behavioral change, making your dog more confident, responsive, and eager to follow your lead.

Do you use positive reinforcement in your dog training?
Yes! Our dog training programs incorporate positive reinforcement techniques alongside gentle course corrections when necessary. We focus on clear communication and trust-building, ensuring your dog understands what behaviors are appropriate. Our goal is to create a calm, confident dog who listens because they trust you—and not because they fear you.

How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. Our puppy training programs focus on socialization, leash training, basic requests, and trust-building, ensuring your pup grows into a well-balanced adult dog.

A psychiatric service dog is trained to assist individuals with mental health conditions through specific tasks and behavioral support. Our service dog training program is designed for both the dog and the handler, ensuring they work as a team. At the end of our training, we offer a psychiatric service dog certification to qualifying teams.

What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

I had an amazing experience with Strong Bond Dog Training! I found Alex while looking for help with my English Springer Spaniel, Mason, who was struggling with trusting and meeting new people. From day one, Alex’s approach just made sense, he focuses on building trust and communication rather than just fixing behaviors on the surface.
Working with him completely changed my relationship with Mason. I learned how to communicate in a way that made him feel safe and understood, and now he’s so much more comfortable around new people. I used to worry about having guests over, but now Mason enjoys meeting them!
What I loved most about Alex’s training is that it wasn’t just about teaching Mason, it was about teaching me how to be a better leader for him. It took some effort on my part, but the results were more than worth it. The bond Mason and I have now is stronger than ever. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly cares and will help you build a real connection with your dog, I can’t recommend Alex enough. He’s the best!

5 star experience with Alex. He is a professional and very passionate about his philosophy on how to train a puppy in the correct way. A gentle and consistent method to introducing your dog to the world and building trust in the process. I wish I had that philosophy when I was raising by family! Highly recommend!

I have been using Strong Bond for my pup, since the day I brought him home at 5 months (he is now a little over a year and a half). Not only did Alex provide me with the practical tools for training and working with him, but he shifted my entire mindset around what it means to be a pet owner. The foundations Alex puts together are practical and absolutely beneficial (actually in more ways than just dog training). By applying the mindset, which is what’s important first and foremost, my dog has become well adjusted and HAPPY. Which in turn, makes me happy! We are clients for life and feel so grateful to be part of the Strong Bond Family!

My border collie Eve and I had the best experience with Alex! I found Alex through a google search, and was attracted to his philosophy behind dog training. I was transitioning out of a life situation, and was nervous about ptsd symptoms resurfacing, and wanted to create a deeper connection between Eve and I. Alex held a safe, approachable, and knowledgeable environment for Eve and I to grow in. After completing the Psychiatric Service Dog classes, I feel like my relationship with Eve has grown tremendously, and I feel more connected to my own body. I couldn't recommend Alex enough! He is a K9 Wizard, and a an overall wonderful person to be around! Eve now comes everywhere with me, and truly increases my sense of safety.
