Strategic K-9 Training

I searched and interviewed a few different trainers and although they seemed good they all were missing something. I reached out to Strategic K9 and had an interview/met and greet with Sydney. We walked through the concerns I had with my 8 mnth old pup and the general training plan. I was quickly blown away and new right away that Sydney was the right trainer. We have had a bunch of training session and I continue to see massive improvements in my stubborn pup and my wife/myself. We have also had a few group classes and its very structured and he really has been getting better in the group sessions. The training classes are really geared for the dog but, also me as an owner. I have had dogs my entire life and thought I was a normal week end worrier ok trainer... until these training classes. I have learned a lot about the mistakes I was making with training and some of the confusing messages/orders I was training my pup with. Sydney is helping me sort those out and providing excellent feedback and correcting my mistakes while maintaining a solid confidence training that my pup responds to. I could keep going on an on about how great the training classes have been but, overall if you are thinking of signing up for training classes you will be happy with the results for your dog and yourself. I highly recommend Sydney and her style of training!

I want to make it clear that this review is obviously from my perspective. I have made a consultation for my bullmastiff basic obedience class but was very disappointed on how it went. The consultation was scheduled for an hour where our trainer would verify whether our pup can be eligible for the training. We got there, met her and she asked us what we expected for our pup and 15min later we left. She never did anything regarding to verify if the pup could be a good fit just pat him asked basic questions and out we went. Terrible first impression. $50 for 15 minutes and that's what we get? Scared to see what we got for the $1600 for basic obedience were quoted.

I can’t say enough great things about Strategic K-9 Training and our trainer Joe!! He has helped train my fiancé and I in order to train our 10 month old pup Loopy. She is an insecure rescue who has an aggressive side when it comes to people entering the home and has showed aggressive behavior towards other dogs. Joe came to our house and helped us better understand why/what her behavior meant and how to help her feel more confident. He made US more confident. If you need a real deal k9 trainer, Joe is THE ONE. Structured methods that come with results, as long as you stick with what YOU the trainer are taught. Even after the first session we saw a difference, now after 5 sessions which included the initial evaluation, she’s got some great skills! Rather than biting at the leash trying to be in charge of me, she knows who the bosses are and when it’s time to stick by my side, or free roam without pulling. The structured methods are what we looked for especially with her aggressive behavior Increasingly getting worse. She now sees the confidence in us and can trust that we would never put her in a bad situation, she feels safer and less on edge. Anyways I can’t recommend this facility enough and we will definitely be extending Loopy's training with some group sessions in the future!

We strongly recommend Joe and Strategic K-9 Training to any dog-owner in the area. Joe was very easy to schedule with, and took time out of his day to travel to Woonsocket to fulfill our training needs/sessions. He is also quickly responsive to text/calls, as well as always willing to teach corrections when sent a video of certain misbehaviors. Also, unlike other trainers, Joe actually takes time to teach YOU exactly what to do, and how to reinforce training on your own time. With this information, we are able to consistently reinforce her training and now have the knowledge and materials to train future dogs when we expand our fur-family! When we adopted our pup, she came with little to no training; only knowing basic commands such as sit and lie-down. She was also extremely poor on leash: not responding, pulling, and lunging at small animals (birds, rabbits, etc.). However, in just under a month of training with Joe, she was close to being completely off leash trained. She stays directly at your side, sits, stops, lays down, and breaks free on command. She also no longer gives into her pray instinct and completely ignores other animals around her. After close to 3 months of consistent training with guidance from Joe, our pup has transformed into a completely different dog which we never thought possible. Proudly, she is entirely off leash trained and we can trust her to perform any command we give her with instant reception. We could not recommend Strategic K-9 enough!

I can't recommend Strategic K9 Training highly enough! Our experience has been transformative. Before we started training, our hound dog's behavior was chaotic and stressful for everyone involved. Since completing the program, the difference is night and day. Our dog is now calm, happy, and far more obedient. We feel a huge sense of relief and newfound confidence in our ability to manage his behavior. John is knowledgeable and supportive, providing us with the tools we needed to reinforce good habits at home. If you put in the effort, this training truly works! We wholeheartedly recommend Strategic K9 Training to anyone looking to improve their dog's behavior and strengthen their bond. It’s been a game-changer for us!
