Stonnie Dennis Dog Training & Boarding

I have been watching and following Stonnie since 2015. His patience when training and clear instructions got me hooked. For years, I have been telling anyone (friends, family, strangers) that have a new puppy to watch him and learn. I recently welcomed a 16 week old GSD into our family and wanted her to have a strong foundation; Stonnie was the absolute and only choice for me. Did not disappoint. Our puppy is only 5 months old and we have seen great improvement in her behavior and confidence. My daughter in law who was skeptical at first is now a believer. She comments on all the positive changes she sees. Most importantly, Stonnie has taught me to look at myself first vs getting frustrated at any puppy behavior that needs work. I ask myself first if I am being reasonable in my expectations and what message am I communicating to the puppy. I am very thankful and appreciate Stonnie and his family for taking on my pup. I'm a first time dog owner who wanted to make sure my rescue pup had the best shot showing her full potential and overcoming her shelter shyness so we could aventure in the great outdoors. Stonnie's system is simple, easy to follow, and has had amazing results so far. My puppy has gone from a scared, skittish pup who raced back to the house if a car went by to one who now looks with interest as the garbage truck slams around! Her manners are improving every day and she's a joy to be around. This kind of a clear, workable system is obviously the result of years of dedication and excellence. My 1 year old black Lab (Huck) completed his month of on site training about a week ago. I have rated the training as Five stars for a lot of reasons but I will concentrate on just the 3 I think most critical here. - “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and he can feed himself for life” The systemic approach that Stonnie uses focuses on teaching the client how to teach the dog and on teaching the dog how to learn and take responsibility for making good decisions. Not only does the approach work, but it allows me to also develop my other dog that has not been through the training. - Intensive socialization- I worked hard to try to socialize Huck in all aspects of socialization when he was in his prime socialization period- 8-20 weeks. Despite that, I got to where he was a year old and under socialized. In the 30 days at Stonnie’s he got such intensive socialization that he essentially caught up. The number of dogs (including mentor dogs) as well as the facilities made this possible. This has been invaluable to me. - Ongoing support- the training includes ongoing consultation for a year after the initial training. Through the use of a shared journal, Stonnie follows ongoing progress and offers advice and solutions to training issues the client runs into as they continue working with the dog. In just the past week, I have already received help on sticky issues that I ran into. This overall system will work for anyone willing to put the effort in.
