Stonnie Dennis Dog Training & Boarding

Our sweet, high-energy field lab puppy, Hazel, was a maniacal chewer and so generally so over-exuberant that she was a handful to manage in the house. We got started with Stonnie’s online course when she was about 12 weeks old. The program was fun for both of us, and she started making big improvements right away in her general responsiveness and manners. While the chewing improved a lot, it remained a problem, and her recall was hit or miss in high-distraction environments. After spending a month with Stonnie in his board and train program, she’s made awesome progress! The chewing has disappeared, and her off-leash recall has been amazing. This has unlocked so much freedom for her. We are on an upward spiral! Now that she can have big adventures outside the house, she is naturally so much better behaved inside. You can tell all the socialization with the mentor dogs and other pups in training has had a big effect. She’s more mature and making better decisions in every way. Stonnie works hard training owners too. You receive extensive training at pick-up and drop-off and can come at the two-week mark for owner training too. The year long training journal with support is already proving to be super valuable. Having a great record of our goals, challenges and progress as well as trouble shooting support whenever we need it is going to be a huge help as we continue to work the program for the rest of the year. Access to the full video library is also a great way to make sure we keep moving forward and meet any challenges as they arise. Thanks, Stonnie, for helping train up my awesome little hiking buddy!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Stonnie and his training program! From the very beginning, Stonnie was incredibly easy to contact and talk to. He sent training materials right away so we could get a jump start on understanding the program and begin journaling. The journal ended up being such a valuable part of the process—it helped Stonnie understand where we were struggling and also helped me see just how much progress we were making. Throughout the entire process, Stonnie was available to answer my questions, address my concerns, and encourage me every step of the way through the journal. Dropping Benny off for training was also a unique and helpful experience. We got to go through a training session with Stonnie in person before leaving Benny, which gave us a much better understanding of the process and what to expect. Benny stayed with Stonnie for a month, and when we picked him up, he looked so healthy and mature. At pickup, we got to do another in-person training session with Stonnie, which was incredibly helpful. It gave us a chance to polish our own skills, learn how to continue working with Benny, and truly see the remarkable difference in him firsthand. He was noticeably calmer and seemed much more obedient. Honestly, I was hesitant to believe it at first… I thought maybe it was a fluke or he was tired! But since bringing Benny home and continuing to work with him, I can confidently say that he truly is a different dog. His leash walking is incredible! Before training, he pulled so hard that I actually had bruises on my hands from holding the leash. Now, he walks right alongside me with a loose leash and is such a pleasure to walk. In fact, I even let my 4-year-old daughter, who has stability and mobility challenges, hold Benny’s leash while walking him, and he was absolutely perfect. That moment alone speaks volumes about the progress he’s made. I cannot praise Stonnie and his program enough!! The puppy course has been absolutely fabulous. There is so much valuable information, and so far I haven’t felt like there are any gaps in what I’m learning. It has helped me understand what expectations are appropriate for my puppy’s age, the importance of small daily progress, and how much the owner-handler relationship matters. One of the biggest things I appreciate is that this course doesn’t just teach obedience. It teaches you how to understand your puppy on a deeper level, how to communicate more clearly, and how to actually enjoy the process of training. I feel like I’m learning how to build a dog that is confident, happy, and enjoyable to live with, not just a dog that knows commands. The best part is that Stonnie is there with you through the journey. If questions come up or you’re unsure about something, there is guidance and mentorship along the way. That makes such a difference because you’re not just watching videos and trying to figure everything out on your own. The course itself is very thoughtful and thorough, but the added mentorship and support are what really make it worth it. I honestly think the world would be a better place if more people took a course like this with their dogs. I can’t even imagine how nice it would be to be around more dogs that were raised and trained this thoughtfully. That being said, this course does require dedication. It takes time to watch the videos, rewatch them, and then put the work into your puppy every day. But if you are already looking at this course, you are probably serious about wanting to do things well. And this is the kind of work that actually gets results. I’m personally very grateful to be taking this course. It has helped me slow down, set better expectations, focus on baby steps, and have more fun with my puppy. I only wish I had more time to go through everything faster, but even working through it little by little has been incredibly valuable.

Working with Stonnie Dennis has been a game changer for me and my dog, Daisy. Before training, walks were rough—lots of pulling and not much focus. Now things are way more manageable, and I feel a lot more confident handling her. We’re still a work in progress, but the difference is real. Stonnie gives you a clear plan and actually teaches you how to work with your dog day to day, not just in a session. The “Life’s Not Fair” work alone has helped a ton with settling at home. If you’re willing to be consistent, this training absolutely works. Really glad we did it.
