Stevenson Gun Dog and Obedience

I adopted a 10 month old yellow lab in September of 2013 from the humane society that was a stray. He was energetic and crazy when I got him as you would expect. When he saw another dog he would literally almost pull my girlfriend out of her shoes as he is about 80 pounds. I spent until late January attempting to train him, and besides potty training I still couldn't even get him to walk on a leash correctly. He spent 8 weeks in the intermediate gun dog training program starting in late January 2014. The difference when I picked him up was unbelievable. He was perfectly obedient, loved birds, and become a great family pet. He listens to the both of us on command and we rarely ever even use a leash with him anymore. I took him out pheasant hunting 7 times this year and he improved every single time. Hunting dogs still require weekly work with the dummy, exercise, and scent training so some work does need to be done yourself as Jeff will tell you, but all in all he did the hard part and got him trained and all I'm doing is reinforcing those actions. It is clear Jeff knows what he is doing from the moment you meet him and I'm 100% satisfied with the work he did.

I normally don't write reviews but after working with Jeff I just had to. I brought my dog Riley to Jeff for an 8 week beginner to advanced obedience program. The first time I went to visit I couldn't believe I could walk her on a leash. Before I brought her to Jeff, she was so crazy, she would bite my feet and bite at the leash. During my visit Jeff helped me build confidence in working with her, I was so afraid of doing something wrong. About 6 weeks into her training, it was amazing I had total control, she was heeling, sitting, staying, lying down and coming all off leash. When I went to pick her up Jeff went through everything and answered all my questions. I cant stress enough how nice it was working with him, not only did he do a great job training Riley he took such good care of her. I would recommend bringing your dog to Jeff for any training, you won't be disappointed.

We brought our dog to a two month training. When he came back he had a skin infection and tell tale signs of laying on concrete without a bed or padding. Took him to the vet the day after he was home and she confirmed what we saw and had to prescribe him med's for skin infection. He was also very skinny and the vet confirmed that he was 10 pounds underweight. Also, upon pick up, we were told he had a bath, but he smelled very sour and had to give a bath that night. Our dog does seem calmer overall and does do well on a leash. Due to the conditions of our dog on his homecoming and the $$ expense of the training and the vet bills, I would not recommend this facility.
