I’ve been training dogs at Southern Tails for several years and can’t recommend them highly enough. My Basset Hounds have taken puppy, beginner, advanced, loose-leash walking, nosework, and even dog acting classes, and more recently I’ve had my German Shepherd in puppy class. I’ve seen firsthand how well Ally and her team work with very different breeds, personalities, and training needs. Ally is an extremely knowledgeable trainer and has built an excellent team of instructors. They are patient, encouraging, practical, and very good at teaching the people as well as the dogs—which, in my experience, is what most “dog training” really is. Of course you can train your dog at home, but there is real value in working together in a class. You learn how to communicate more clearly, troubleshoot problems, and recognize progress. Just as important, experiencing success with your dog in class helps get you through those inevitable moments when your puppy or dog is driving you absolutely crazy! I also love that Southern Tails goes beyond the usual classes. Ally offers private lessons and short “mini-workshops” on specific real-life issues like jumping on people, barking, and other common problems that many dog schools don’t really address. Whether you have a brand-new puppy, want better manners, need help with a specific issue, or are simply looking for something fun to do with your dog, Southern Tails is a wonderful resource.
