Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Toms River

I know this is long but if you have a reactive dog and are considering a trainer bring him here! My dog Sherman is a 3 year old boxer mix and was/is extremely reactive. He would lose his mind if he saw a dog on TV, in the street, anywhere. He was knocking out panels of our fence because he heard our neighbors dog on the other side. We couldn't bring him anywhere. Every day we would hope that today wouldn't be the day where he finally ripped our TV down to get to the dog in the Simparica Trio commercial or managed to escape our yard in a frenzy because he saw another dog walk by. Life was hell with him. After my daughter started to become mobile we decided that it wasn't safe to have a dog like him around her. He was never aggressive towards her but when he would get into a frenzy who know what could happen. So we took him to Sit means Sit. When we got there he was so worked up seeing other dogs from the car the owner Ray had to come and get Sherman out of the car because we couldn't do it safely ourselves. He was like a 80lb ball of confused rage. We signed Sherman up for a plan that had 5 boarding lessons and 2 months of group classes. It was expensive but when your out of options and starting to consider rehoming him what does money matter. Ray told me in that meeting he would not give up on us and that they were in it for the long haul. This was the first day of Sherman's new life. We are 7 classes in ( 5 private and 2 group classes) and I have a different dog. Sherman graduated from the initial training and could do all the commands but he was still reactive with other dogs. If this was a high school Sherman would be the bad boy who plays by his own rules and his trainer Rio would be the kind teacher who refuses to give up on him. Our first group class he couldn't participate because of his behavior. Did they ask us to leave or tell us too bad your 5 private lessons are up ? Nope, they refused to give up on my dog and developed an unique class for him where he could see the other dogs from a distance. The next group class his behavior is still bad but better and after slowly exposing him to the other dogs we made it to group class!! I was so filled with gratitude and hope that one day in the near future I can finally have a well behaved dog. I am no longer afraid of my dog and I know by the time we finish his group classes he will be unrecognizable. Thank you Ray for keeping your word and refusing to give up him. You saved my dog.
