Does the trained dog always have to wear the Sit Means Sit dog collar?
Reinforcement is an ongoing part of dog training, similar to how traffic laws require continuous enforcement. The need for reinforcement varies among dogs, but proper training can lead to increased reliability even without training aids. Our training process involves three phases: teaching/control, reinforcement, and maintenance. The goal is to gradually reduce dependence on the collar while maintaining consistent behavior. Even after training, occasional reinforcement may be necessary, much like how drivers still need reminders of traffic rules. Our commitment is to help you achieve your training goals and maintain your dog's good behavior long-term.

We utilize a diverse approach to dog training at Sit Means Sit. Our attention-based system, developed by our founder and CEO Fred Hassen, incorporates various training tools. While we often use our customized Sit Means Sit collar, it's just one of the tools in our arsenal. This electronic collar uses safe, adjustable stimulation similar to medical devices like TENS units. It functions as a remote-controlled cue, comparable to tapping someone's shoulder for attention. Our training process teaches dogs to associate this cue with positive outcomes, allowing for effective communication even in distracting environments.

Alyssa is great! We have literally been to more dog trainers than I can count before we found Alyssa. Our super sweet, rambunctious but fearful beagle mix needed guidance on how to act around people and other dogs. She just thought everyone was as excited to see her as she was them! :) Alyssa has helped Millie make a complete 360 in the time that she spent with her. She is knowledgeable, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile to help us out. Millie can now be around dogs without the fear that she once had! We will forever be grateful to Alyssa!

Allyssa and Skylar have been a GREAT team to help me with my bully pack. They have been kind and patient with my brown boy who has needed the most work. They have helped me build trust in myself and my pack to train them to become better bully advocates. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to any doggie family in need of some support and training.

Alyssa is the greatest link in the chain of Sit-Means-Sit. Our crazy rescue mutt, Wally, responds well to Alyssa's training techniques and we are learning valuable methods, tips and tricks to address Wally's behavioral issues. Board-and-train was the ideal experience for our Wally, especially after being abandoned as a pup. He's still a puppy, but much more well behaved and lovable since his graduation. Thank you Alyssa!

Sit Means Sit has done wonders with our dog and his leash reactivity. Alyssa is amazing with every dog I have seen her work with. She has the magic touch and dogs respond so well to her. Her patience and willingness to try different training methods has been so helpful. After being with Sit Means Sit for a year we have been “trained to train” our dog Austin. We were always hesitant to use an e-collar but with the guidance of the trainer we are in control of our dog. Walks are much more pleasant and we feel confident in our training to handle Austin around other dogs.
I highly recommend this company for any training needs and am so happy with the results.

I used Sit means Sit about a year ago, and my pup is still doing so well! I can take him places and he still does so well with off leash commands! Alyssa gave me and my pup quality of life back! She’s the best there is.
