What people have asked about this business.
Do you offer board and train programs?
At our Rochester Hills facility, we have a beautiful Immersion Inn for our board and train program. It's a clean, intimate setting, holding a maximum of 18 dogs. Our rooms at the Inn frequently book weeks in advance for our board and train programs. We have programs of different lengths, depending on the needs of your dog and family. A trainer will be happy to discuss the options with you during your free consultation.

It gives you a chance to see our 8,500 square foot facility and to meet with a member of our team who will give you a recommendation about which of our training programs will fit the needs of your family best.

Does this company use electric collars for training?
Yes.. however do your research when looking at all forms of training... When I was a client, they offered demonstrations and explanations so you can evaluate their methods.

If you want a happy and healthy relationship with your dog you WILL come here! They saved my GSD's life. He came to us unsocialized at two years old, and he was terribly fear aggressive - other forms of training made him worse.
Don't believe anyone who says collar training is harmful. PEOPLE are harmful - and those who misuse a collar, will misuse any other form of training too.

I have found that electric collars get a bad reputation because of inappropriate use. Sit Means Sit teaches using the collar as an attention getter like a tap on the shoulder - not as punishment. A lot of praise and positive reinforcement is recommended. The dogs are happy and excited to learn and to please. My experience and observation confirms how humane this collar can be if used correctly.

Initially we were not too keen on a dog training place that used an e-collar but I did sign up for their training as they came highly recommended by many, to give us the results that we were looking for. And at the end of 3 weeks of intense training I can say we made the best decision ever. Each and every trainer was amazing and ensured that we understood (really ensured) how they worked our dog . The training gave us the necessary tools for us to feel confident with our dog in different scenarios.....this was gold. Would highly recommend spending the days off between training (even if it is a few minutes) to go over the commands introduced to your dog and share your challenges/wins with the trainers ,before the next class. The trainers were ever willing to help with any questions and provide solutions. It was a commitment for sure but a very rewarding one ,both for us and our dog.

Clearly Phoebe has no experience with training collars. Our dog went to Sit Means Sit for training and I can't tell you how excited she gets when we get her collar out. Training for her is like play time and she loves it. I have tried the collar on personally and can tell you from first hand experience it does not hurt.

I signed up our new puppy Eden, for the puppy classes at Sit-Means sit back in February. Eden loved the people there, the other dogs and the trainers. We went on to do the puppy immersion, and at first, I'll admit I was very hesitant to start being new to the e-collar but we needed training help. Fast forward to 5 months later and we are still with the program, going to classes weekly and loving the results! Every week Eden gets better, we get more connected and she absolutely LOVES going every week! We have been able to work on and greatly improve some guarding issues we were having with Eden and she is becoming so polite. Eden LOVES Nick and will basically do anything he says with her tail wagging the whole time!

We started our 11 week old Doberman puppy, our princess Harley, in the 8 week STAR puppy class, which was outstanding! At 5 1/2 months old we put Harley in the 2 week full Immersion Inn program. This program was AMAZING for Harley!!! A complete transformation of our puppy. We could not be happier!!! Harley had the best experience there. She knows this place before we even get out of the car. She loves all her trainers and is very excited to greet them at weekly group classes. Harley is still puppy with lots of high energy but is obedient with commands and very sweet. The trainers are wonderful, very knowledgeable and truly care! Absolutely the best decision we ever made!!! Highly recommended!!! Will most definitely go through this program again with any future puppies/dogs.

Returned to group class just to get some refreshers, not only for my pup but me too. Trainers are supportive and helpful as always. Because of the training I’ve received through SMS my pup has gone on to be a certified therapy dog. Thank you SMS.

I can't say enough good things about Sit means Sit and the trainersTrainers When we first brought our dog, Vader to them, we were at our wits' end. He was reactive on walks, jumping on guests, not listening. We had tried other trainers with little success for puppy training, but the Sit Means Sit trainers are patient, positive, and knowledgeable approach made all the difference. This training center is the best and I recommend this training center to anyone who wants to see success. Thank you to Nick and his team. Without all of you I would have given up on our dog. Now he is the best boy. Thank you!
