Question on Google
Does this company use electric collars for training?

Yes.. however do your research when looking at all forms of training... When I was a client, they offered demonstrations and explanations so you can evaluate their methods.

Community answer · John Wagg · 2017-09-21

If you want a happy and healthy relationship with your dog you WILL come here! They saved my GSD's life. He came to us unsocialized at two years old, and he was terribly fear aggressive - other forms of training made him worse. Don't believe anyone who says collar training is harmful. PEOPLE are harmful - and those who misuse a collar, will misuse any other form of training too.

Community answer · Megan Fisher · 2018-09-21

I have found that electric collars get a bad reputation because of inappropriate use. Sit Means Sit teaches using the collar as an attention getter like a tap on the shoulder - not as punishment. A lot of praise and positive reinforcement is recommended. The dogs are happy and excited to learn and to please. My experience and observation confirms how humane this collar can be if used correctly.

Community answer · Sandra Papiez · 2018-09-21

Initially we were not too keen on a dog training place that used an e-collar but I did sign up for their training as they came highly recommended by many, to give us the results that we were looking for. And at the end of 3 weeks of intense training I can say we made the best decision ever. Each and every trainer was amazing and ensured that we understood (really ensured) how they worked our dog . The training gave us the necessary tools for us to feel confident with our dog in different scenarios.....this was gold. Would highly recommend spending the days off between training (even if it is a few minutes) to go over the commands introduced to your dog and share your challenges/wins with the trainers ,before the next class. The trainers were ever willing to help with any questions and provide solutions. It was a commitment for sure but a very rewarding one ,both for us and our dog.

Community answer · Arti Kesu · 2020-09-21

Clearly Phoebe has no experience with training collars. Our dog went to Sit Means Sit for training and I can't tell you how excited she gets when we get her collar out. Training for her is like play time and she loves it. I have tried the collar on personally and can tell you from first hand experience it does not hurt.

After bringing my daughter dog, Link, home from a rescue in Denver, we quickly realized he had some behavioral challenges. He showed signs of body sensitivity, aggression, and an extremely strong prey drive toward the cats in our home. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive about the training process at first, but we committed fully to the program and followed everything Nick and his team at Sit means Sit taught us. Within the first week, we noticed a significant change in Link’s behavior. As the training progressed, the transformation was nothing short of remarkable. By the time we completed the course, Link was a completely different dog. I am absolutely amazed at how well he listens, how well-behaved he has become, and how much his overall attitude has improved. It’s truly like having a different dog. What impressed me most was that the training wasn’t just for Link, it taught us how to communicate with him effectively and build a stronger relationship. The results have exceeded every expectation we had. We continue to bring Link to the group training sessions because he loves them, and honestly, so do I. Nick and his team genuinely care about the dogs they work with and are passionate about helping owners succeed. I would highly recommend Sit means Sit to any dog owner who wants a well-behaved, confident, and loving companion. The investment in this program has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for Link and our family.

Highly recommended to anyone looking for help trying their dog. We have two dogs that went through the program. One was an older dog and one was a puppy (at 10 months, he had amazing recall and he’s off leash majority of the time) so I can vouch that the training works for dogs of any age. Their group classes are also amazing and fun. Their staff is also out of this world. Always willing to help in any ways and are so loving.

Enrolling our German Shepherd puppy in the Immersion program at Sit Means Sit was one of the very best investments we ever made! My aunt and uncle (who also enrolled) said “It was worth every penny!” I really can’t say enough positive things. The owner and the trainers are incredible- they truly want you to have the best pet companion possible. Each dog and owner are treated with care and attention; you never feel like “just another customer”. Lisa, the Client Relations specialist, is an angel. She has compassionately helped me work through some scheduling difficulties. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone who has a dog! Best decision you will ever make on behalf of your Furbaby

Sit Means Sit staff offers exceptional training. Our Golden Retriever puppy went through puppy school and finished up in their two week Immersion program. The staff is well trained, they are helpful and kind. Their commitment followed through from puppy to our family needs. They focus not only on individualized training for our dog but also educating the owners for best results. We have seen so much improvement at home and in public with our dog, and will continue coming to weekly group classes until mastery.
