Dog training is not a one paw fits all. My dog has serious fear issues resulting from her first 6 months of life in less than desirable situations and shelters and it manifested as fear aggression. We tried several approaches to training with no success and her behavior was escalating. I had major reservations about going to a solution that used training collars and honestly said I would never use them. The team at Sit Means Sit did amazing work with me and my pup to make sure they understood our needs and especially Emma's. They then formulated a training plan around those needs. They educated us on their different approaches and answered all our questions and concerns. I did my own research about micro stim modality technology used in the collars, and I used the collar on myself and my husband :-) before even considering putting it on my dog. The training team taught her to focus on me instead of what she was fearful of. And they taught me how to use the tools and techniques to handle her in those situations. In doing so, she has learned to trust me and to look to me to take charge and obey commands I give her. She is now a less stressed dog and has confidence in me. Normal positive reinforcement efforts did not work with my girl so we had to find another way to break through the fear and get her attention in order to train. The training we did is still positive reinforcement based but the collar allowed me to give her a tap on the shoulder so to speak to get her attention on me for direction. Before the training, there was no way she would listen because she was so focused on attacking whatever was causing her fear. Our puppy Guinness had some bad habits and having never raised a puppy, we needed help. We had a trainer come to our house for awhile, but there seemed to be little progress. Sit Means Sit was a lifesaver. While Guinness still has plenty to learn, his training made a big improvement and the fact that we can take part in group classes for no additional charge is awesome! Guinness loves to see all the trainers, they are a great group!
