Simplistic Dog Training LLC

Our experience with training was excellent. My 1 1/2 year old silver lab responded really well to Paul and she learned commands very quickly. We have also done very well at home following the same technique taught by Paul. The one on one attention was comprehensive and effective, as Paul listened to my routine with my dog and he helped me learn the proper way to reinforce what was taught. Karen was great with communicating by text and she responded very quickly if we had any scheduling issues. I would highly recommend their services. It had made a big difference with our dog.

I’ve waited to complete the entire training program (and then some) before giving my review of Simplistic Dog Training so that it could be thorough and not just based off of one interaction or immediate feelings, but off of the whole experience. After my first lesson In all honesty I was reeling. I thought of my pup as a sweet baby and wanted to train her like the delicate flower I thought she was. I had major concerns about the complete demon she became 15 times a day where she shredded my (and my 3 and 6 year old children’s) arms, hands and clothing, but was afraid to be “too rough” or break her spirit when trying to stop her. Therefore my girls and I stayed her human punching bag. Within minutes, Paul taught me how to stop that behavior as well as many other bad habits she was picking up. But I sat there feeling SO bad for my dog watching her be disciplined for bad behavior and for the first time in her life she was having to “tow the line” and my momma heart was breaking. I was getting upset and decided immediately I probably wouldn’t come back. Well , within a week or so (her behavior got worse before it got better) she was starting to understand my new role of leadership in her life and she wasn’t even attempting to bite me/us as much. She was looking to me AND my children for guidance and we didn’t have to walk around with our pockets full of treats and prayers to stop her nonsense of biting and attacking, jumping on counters, stealing my kids toys, etc. I finished our training program (4 sessions) and even sent her to several puppy boot camps, did a few group trainings and another private session with Paul on how to use our e-collar properly. I watched her get stretched and grow into a really well mannered dog. She didn’t always appreciate having to listen to authority (do any of us?) but she quickly learned that was what was best for her! I will say the training required a ton of work and changes for us and our family at first. It was overwhelming and i questioned if I should just go back to our old ways. But boy am I glad we stuck it out! Our dog is a complete joy (she’s still a pup-she has her issues 😆) but Simplistic Dog Training is there for us EVERY time I have a question! They truly care that you end up with a dog your family can enjoy and will go to every length to give you just that! You need to put in the work, but they are there (even beyond your 4 training sessions) to quickly answer questions over the phone, text, or even to have you come back in with your dog. I noticed the 1 negative review they have and while I respect his opinion I do wonder if it would have changed if he were able to stick it out through the 4 training sessions. Honestly, many if not most of the problems My dog had were directly related to how I was “leading” (or lack there of) her. Now that she looks to me as loving authority and for guidance our relationship has transformed! I can now take her on 6 mile hikes with no leash and she sticks right with me, tongue hanging out, tail wagging…a happy dog…whose “spirit didn’t break”, it was set free!

I have an 1 year old wild man who LOVES to run and play but his anxious behaviors left my husband and I scratching our heads on how to help him spend time with our family, especially outdoors. When I first chatted with Karen I knew I found the right place to help me train my boy. Paul is extremely knowledgeable, patient and easy to chat with. After our first class I realized all the things I had been doing thinking I was helping my dog was in fact making matters worse. Paul’s training not only helped change my dog’s behaviors but changed mine and my responses. The training is based on correction and not constant treats (I carry enough snacks for my kids, I really didn’t want to have to pack more for the dog!!). It’s based on a mutual understanding between you and your dog and in just a few weeks and 3 classes I have an entirely different relationship with my baby boy and a completely different understanding of what he needs from me to feel comfortable in our home. He’s more calm, walks are so much more enjoyable and we’re getting him on track for being the perfect camping/hiking partner. This is the first time I’ve ever had a bigger dog and at 70lbs I wanted to make sure I got things right. Without the help of Simplistic Dog Training I would have never gotten here with so much more success to look forward to! Only regret I have is not finding them sooner!

They offer a one size fits all training program. The woman who took my call was very condescending. They seem to have this attitude that if your dog has behavior issues then you are most likely the problem.She really didn't listen to what I was saying. They definitely don't tailor training to your dog's issues. Their training hours are very limited. Not sure what people think is so great about this place. I mean I'm sure they can teach your dog to sit and stay but so what? Anyone can teach a dog that. Don't waste your money. Watch a few YouTube videos instead. RE: their response--most of their training is scheduled during the day when 90% of us work. Again, I'm sure they're successful training puppies to sit and grown dogs not to jump on people. Big deal. They're not looking for anything challenging, trust me.
