We sought out training for our Australian Cattle Dog when she was four months old. Most trainers we contacted used “treat training” which we felt was fine for tricks but not obedience. At the recommendation of our veterinarian, we scheduled a consultation with Paul and Karen. I knew almost immediately that we were in the right place. Over the course of eight weeks, we learned during four sessions how not only to keep our pet safe but also calm by establishing ourselves as her pack leaders on whom she could solely rely. That dependence and practice of the skills taught in each session helped build a strong bond between myself, my husband, and our dog. We practiced sit, down, and heel daily. It felt great to know that these tools taught to us in K9 Korner’s basic obedience classes could calm my pet and keep her safe in stressful situations. She has had the opportunity to make many new friends, both human and canine, of all ages and sizes. We feel confident in our ability to keep her calm and control her reactions in any situation now. Anywhere that advertises itself as “pet friendly,” we visit to welcome the opportunity to continue to perfect our communication with our dog. We continue to schedule “boot camp” sessions as well. We love that our dog gets the benefit of safe socialization with dogs that are also being taught basic obedience and are kept under the skillful supervision of Karen and Paul for a day of fun learning.
