Hi Sarah. That's Resource Guarding, very common amongst Rotties. They tend to have elevated likelihood—it doesn't make them bad, we just need to help them see it's not a problem. So, start with our Resource Guarding PDF, which is free on our website: https://www.simpawtico-training.com/learning/downloadables/ Then, you may want to develop things like Leave It and Drop It if you haven't already. Leave It you can start very easily and we have a video for that on our YouTube here: https://youtu.be/Dt9sQDP3q50 Drop It is best taught while playing Tug, and there's a free resource for that on that same downloads page on the website. Beyond that, if you need further help, you may want to set up a consultation with us. We can do in-studio or in-home if you're local; we can also do over Zoom if you live somewhere far from us. Simpatico is a wonderful dog training facility. If you are unable to attend the actual training classes Ian Stone has You Tube videos and various class options that may meet your needs. No behavior is too big or unique for Ian. He is currently the trainer of our 2nd golden retriever, 6 month old - Cooper.

Do you offer therapy dog training and certification?
Hi Emma. Thanks for reaching out! We can do all the requisite training in preparation for certification, but we do not do the actual testing. We have evaluators we work with that we can help you get something arranged with, if you choose to work with us.

Do you offer in home training?
Hi Toni. Thanks for your question. Currently In-Home training is only offered on a case-by-case basis, and only for behavior problems such as aggression or reactivity. I'm not new to dog training. I'm bringing sibling Cavalier puppies home soon. I know sibling puppies can be problematic; I know I need to train/work with each of them individually. What advice would you give in this situation?

Ian has been amazing with us and our dogs since we met back in April. It has been a very up and down journey, a lot of stress from a new baby being introduced, passing of another pet, work/life stress. We always get fast responses to all our questions and concerns. We have seen such improvement even if we lack in the training and we have renewed hope for our dogs behaviors as long as we do the work! Ian has been so kind, patient and understanding with us and we are looking forward to keep working with him.
Brilliant understanding of dog and human behavior. A supportive learning environment - a great teaching style and ample resources. Our training with Simpawtico has vastly improved both the behavior of our rescue dog and the quality of our family life.
Ian worked with us to correct a behavior issue in our 15 month old dog. He's great at understanding the root of the issue and giving practical training instruction to correct it.
Ian has helped us so much in training us how to train our dog. He not only shows us how to do it with our pup but also answers all the questions we have. They may be booked out a few months but totally worth it!
