Great facility and outcome with my 3 1/2 year old dog for basic and advanced training. Paul was her trainer and he was very good to/with her.

I am writing this review based on my experience on the initial evaluation. When we arrived for our evaluation the trainer did not interact with my dog at all. He also did not introduce himself to my significant other who handles our dog also. I was asked to walk my dog 15 yards and make a left. I was then asked to put him in a sit and a lay. After that it got very uncomfortable. I was lectured for 45 minutes sitting down while he was standing. It was condescending. Where I think the trainer has a ton of experience with his program and his training techniques it was not for us. He continually told me if my dog failed after the program it was because of me and my follow up. I was also quoted $4500 for the 21 day board and train which was program 1 and program 2 which are mandatory on leash and aggression training. The third option that was offered in the 21 day program was off leash training which would come to $8500. I informed the gentleman that my dog has become afraid of golf cart, skate boards and scooters. He kept insinuating he should have been trained professional from the day I got him and that he was more aggressive than he really was. He also made a comment that one day it will happen and he will snap, or he could. The approach was extremely sales forward and aggressive. Where this might work for a range of individuals and scaring them might also, I think if he took the time to get to know us and our dog he would understand how to "sell" us better as well as my dog does not response to aggression. My dog is a fast learner, extremely smart and kind of scared. In addition, I have had 5 dogs prior to this one. I am not uneducated in training, and large dog breeds. I have a very good boy who reacts to things that scare him. I also didn't appreciate when I asked what collars are used and what techniques I was not give a straight answer for 10 minutes. He replied with "what would you like me to use" and made comments like "well we don't hit and kick the dog" as well as if the dogs response is a 10 then he will get 10 or 100 response back. That made me feel very uneasy. I do not take away from his experience or ability I just want everyone to be prepared for this experience. I wish him and all the dogs in his program luck.
Trainers are courteous and kind. My Bella the Saint Bernard loved going to her training and responded immediately. I now have a 130 lb dog I can easily walk on or off leash. Thank you! I can’t say enough.
Thank you so much to the entire Shultz team! We are very please with our dog, the training he has had and our overall experience with all of the staff, but specifically Max and Paul! We are so grateful we found Shultz and I would highly recommend them!
