Shelter to Service pairs rescued dogs with Veterans and then provides an extensive training program for the dog to become a service dog for that Veteran. Because of the generousity of our donors, there is no cost to the Veteran for training or equipment. We can also train a Veteran's personal dog if the dog is rescued and passes service dog evaluation. Shelter to Service works to give an honorable purpose to the rescued dog, and help the Veteran form an unbreakable bond with their dog, and a lifeline for themselves. With respect and compassion for both the dog and the Veteran, Shelter to Service will be "Saving Heroes at Both Ends of the Leash".

Excellent experience. The trainers are top notch and the training program was outstanding and paced for the dog and the handler. The dogs they select from the shelter are wonderful and even tempered. Nina was always available to answer questions or help with issues regarding training and dog behavior. I was very apprehensive at first but by the time we got halfway through public access training I was much more comfortable and confident taking my dog with me to a restaurant or a store. If you are a veteran in need of a service dog I encourage you to reach out, it will change your life.
