We are overjoyed with the results of the time Maxie and Jack spent training and boarding with Martin and Shelly. Our pups are responsive and calm. They don't run amuck throughout the house anymore. Without having to correct them, they now play outside instead of turbo racing through the house and all over us and our furniture. I have plenty to practice because I was unknowingly encouraging all the bad behaviors. I will not leave my pups with anyone else again. With Martin and Shelly they have more time and room to play and exercise in comparison with the small "suite" experience we used in the past - and no extra charge for your pup to receive petting and attention.

Shelmar Kennels is a fantastic choice for dog training in the Houston/Katy area. We've taken two dogs there and have been very pleased with the results both times. They combine a deep understanding of dogs and how they think with lots of positive reinforcement (no punishment in their approach) to get dogs trained. After the training, they train you the owner on what you need to know to make the learnings "stick" when you return home with your dog. I can't recommend Martin and Shelly and the Shelmar Kennels team highly enough! Our Weimaraner, Rooney, is the best behaved dog we've ever had, and we have Shelmar Kennels to thank for that!

Shelly and Martin went above and beyond with Hope. I was completely overwhelmed when we first brought Hope home as a puppy. I’ve had plenty of dogs in my life, but Hope during her puppy stage almost broke me. After her training was done, I was absolutely blown away with how well mannered she had become.
Hope is an integral part of our family and I will forever be grateful for the work Shelly and Martin did.

We are beyond happy with how Shelly and Martin care for our “dog children”. They create the best schedule for them, the continued training is so helpful, it is a great atmosphere for fun for them. One of my best friends introduced us and we have made the switch from our usual dog care.

Best money we ever spent! Our Duke was completely transformed in 3 weeks time. I honestly didn't think it was possible for a dog to change that much in such a short time. Martin took the time to train us so we could continue reinforcing the training regime. A year has passed since this training and he has not regressed at all. Duke is so much happier as he can be with us all the time now that he so well behaved!
