Honestly the Worst place! I usually never write reviews but this time I need to do so. I was originally booked with Sabrina who was basically in her trainings and never responded to your emails. After her lack of responses the owner of the program acknowledged (can share the exchanges of emails if needed be) and offered to reimburse some of the sessions. Then she has the audacity to ask that I amend my review. This is shocking! I still have not be reimbursed

We absolutely adore Shelby Semel Training and our incredible trainer, Sabrina! Sabrina has been with us since the second week of bringing home our beloved golden retriever puppy in September 2024, guiding us through every stage of his development. Puppyhood can be challenging anywhere, but especially in New York City, and Sabrina has been our rock throughout it all. The core philosophy at Shelby Semel is to establish a solid foundation of skills that will support a dog's lifelong growth and success. From crate and potty training to socialization, impulse control, basic obedience, leash manners, and more, Sabrina and the Shelby Semel team have been with us every step of the way. Sabrina's ability to tailor training approaches to match the unique personality of our dog is nothing short of impressive, and she has a true gift for training. Sabrina is exceptionally responsive to any questions or concerns we have, no matter how small or silly they may seem, and we've always felt supported and confident in her guidance. Our pup absolutely adores her, and it's easy to see why--Sabrina connects with dogs on such a deep level. We also can't recommend their puppy and adolescent play classes enough! These classes have been a game-changer for our social golden retriever. He thrives in the structured and safe environment, eagerly meeting new dogs and developing his social skills. If you're looking for positive reinforcement training, we wholeheartedly recommend Shelby Semel and Sabrina. Their expertise, care, and dedication have made all the difference in our dog's life and our own.

We recently had the pleasure of working with John for private dog training at our home with our 5-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier, Joy. While Joy didn’t have any major behavioral issues, we wanted to focus on teaching her the basic commands and skills to ensure she grows into a well-behaved adult dog. The session that stood out the most for us was the hour of outdoor training focused on leash walking. It was incredibly helpful! John patiently guided us through how to keep Joy focused and walking properly on a leash, which has made a huge difference in our daily walks. What we loved most about working with John was how comfortable and enjoyable the sessions felt. It was like hanging out with a friend rather than being in a formal training session. His relaxed, approachable demeanor made learning easy and fun for both us and Joy. We’ve already noticed a significant improvement in Joy’s behavior, and we believe we’ll only need one or two more sessions to wrap things up. When the time comes, we’ll definitely miss working with John. He’s been an absolute joy to work with, and we couldn’t recommend him more highly!

We’ve been working with senior trainer Corinne and our pup Margie has improved so much. Margie is a very anxious dog and has been having trouble adjusting to the loud noises in NYC. It’s been a challenge managing her many triggers and dealing with her pulling on the leash. With Corinne we’ve learned various tricks and games to play with her while walking to lessen her pulling and increase her confidence. We are two training sessions in, about to do a third, and we’ve already noticed such an improvement! We’ve worked with other trainers in the past but this is our first time we’ve been able to get results.
