Seattle Board and Train

Christine is an excellen trainer. She is very level headed, compassionate and knowledgable on all aspects of dog behavoir and psychology. It took a lot of digging to find a strict positive reenforcement/ classic conditioning dog trainer. Most I found were heavy handed and lacked the love dogs need to learn. When I met Christine I knew she was a trainer that could be trusted! My puppy ended up not needing day training or boarding, but we did benefit greatly from her supervised puppy playdates and socialization, especially during this Pandemic.

Want a well adjusted, balanced and playful canine? Christine is the behavioral training genius you want to learn from. She gets dogs and she gets you - that's a rare combination. We have a dog reactive Akita and tried a variety of training programs without much success before discovering Christine. She assessed our pup and created an effective program that helped him learn how to chill around other dogs. He's come a long way and continues to improve every day, thanks to Christine! Highly recommended.

Nothing but wonderful things to say about Christine and Seattle Board and Train. We got our Bernedoodle puppy at 8 weeks of age and by 10 weeks of age we realized we had a huge problem. He was a genetic resource guarder and was willing to bite and attack humans to guard resources important to him. The advice we received was that behavior at this age was inborn and extremely difficult to train out of dogs and that our best option was to euthanize our puppy. We were told one trainer had the experience with fear and aggression to help us, and that was Christine. She worked with us relentlessly through the first three months we had our dog, teaching us and him positive commands to counter his resource guarding. She used evidence based, scientific approaches (that she could provide sources for so we could do our own research), was entirely positive training focused, tailored his training plans to our situation, and was available constantly to troubleshoot problems as they came up. After months of hard work it was like we had a whole new dog. Furthermore, she has remained available to us and helped us our dog's different developmental stages as he gets older. We firmly believe that Christine is responsible for saving our dog's life and are so grateful to have found Seattle Board and Train. Christine's decades of experience, deep love for dogs, and positive, scientific, evidence based approach to dog training make her an excellent choice for everything from basic puppy training and COVID puppy socialization strategies, to more complex situations like the one we faced. We had an absolutely amazing experience with Christine. Our 6 mo old mini dachshund (Pickles) was raised in quarantine, so he had no socialization with other dogs. On walks, he would bark at other dogs and not know how to play, despite the other dogs wanting to meet and play. The same thing would happen when we tried to have him "meet" friends' dogs. Our main goal in training was to understand this behavior and learn how to get him comfortable with other dogs. We started off with 3 half-day sessions, which was nice, as it allowed Pickles to acclimate to Christine, her wonderful helper dog, Gaelen, and the house and yard, which is amazing! There is SO MUCH space for dogs to run and hide and play, in grass, bushes and even a large pond. Doggy paradise for sure. The next week we did boarding/training for 5 days. This training included a lot of one-on-one with Christine, learning from Gaelen, and Christine also has a team of other dogs/owners that she'd bring in for situational learning. We would visit everyday, so we could learn first hand, and she would also record her training sessions on video so we could watch them later (with our own dog!). At the beginning, Pickles definitely was anxious and did his barking thing. By the end, Pickles was less anxious around other dogs, and we learned how to ease him into meeting other dogs. He's much more confident in himself, which makes him less anxious overall. He also worked on other things as well, like "go to target (mat)", and my wife and I got great first-hand training so we know how to continue Pickle's training. Christine did a great job with our dog, and he definitely misses her and Gaelen:(. I'd highly recommend Seattle Board and Train to anyone looking for an effective trainer with a caring approach.
