My dog Mu and I are lucky to live six blocks away. If we didn't, proximity to School For The Dogs would be, no exaggeration, reason to move. We go almost every day for School Yard, their trainer-supervised dog park where the dogs' interactions are seen as teaching moments and the humans pay attention and care. Some days we do Day School, though I work from home and don't need daycare, because I know every minute with SFTD trainers is quality time for Mu--and support for me as I learn to solve dog problems, teach new behaviors, understand dog language, and generally be a better dog person. Mu is shy, but he LOVES going to School! The super-positive training ethos, helpful, welcoming community, down-to-earth vibe, and sense of humor about it all are so much more than I'd hoped for when I first Googled "dog trainers." Lord knows the East Village didn't need another restaurant or bar, it needed School For The Dogs. I wish every neighborhood had one. ps--The store, along with the staff's expert advice on (and good taste in) gear, is worth checking out, too.
