We had brought our 14 week old GS puppy to Dean in January 2018 with many behavior problems such as dominance issues, strong willed, potty training issues etc. and we had had him only 6 weeks. He was too smart and too big for his own sassy furry britches. Simeon is our 2nd GS after our 12 year old GS had died. That little pup gave us a run for our money! We had done a lot of looking for a quality shepherd and had spoke with Dean prior to picking up our new puppy. He suggested bringing the puppy right from the breeder instead of bringing him home. But the breeder said not to start training until 6 mos of age. They were wrong! If Dean says bring him straight from the breeder, that is what you must do. Dean had our puppy for 12 weeks. He had done a fantastic job with him. Dean said he was one of the toughest pups he has had and thought at one point he was beyond hope. We began to think we got a bad apple. BUT Dean would not give up on him. He has the patience of a saint! Dean is mild mannered but totally knows what he is doing.Dean has a unique gift. When we had pick up our dog he was a different dog. Dean had trained him in basic obedience and 1 year later his commands are still ingrained. we had to check for his birthmark to be sure he was the same dog. We are definitely will be planning to bring our Shepherd back for additional training.

I have been training with Dean since 2011. I started doing Schutzhund/IPO with my then 1 1/2 year old male. With Dean's teaching, we achieved Tracking 1-3, and Obedience 1-3. When I got my female puppy, we started training with Dean right at 8 weeks old. We are now preparing her for her IPO3 at four years old, getting respectable scores, including three High in Tracking scores. Dean has an amazing talent for understanding the dog; it's genetics, instincts, and behavior. I have learned so much from Dean, and can now really truly appreciate and respect the dog for the wonderful animal that it is. Dean has a true passion for helping each Handler to succeed with their dog. Each person and each dog has a different personality, and Dean is able to work with each individual dog/handler team to help them become the best they can be. Also, when I board my dogs with Dean, I have absolute trust and confidence that they will be safe and well cared for.
