Sadie's Rules K9 Training

We (Remi, Mark, and I) graduated from Sadies Rules February 11, 2024. I say that my husband and I "graduated" too because the program is not just for the dog involved, it's for the entire family. It works because Jess makes leaders out of unsure owners. If you believe you need help with your dog(s), don't hesitate or wait. Contact Jess. Jess has a waiting list for a reason. Her methods work. The evidence and results are posted on the website, blogs, etc. Sadie's Rules is the complete package deal. You will get every resource, tool, and the amount of guidance and support you need to live the life you hope with your family dog. The program is about changing the relationship dynamics, and Jess and her team (David and Jess's family) do the initial, hardest part. In addition, Jess offers lifetime support. That's huge. Is the training "expensive?" Yes, maybe. But for us, it wasn't about the money. It was about our safety and Remi's. After spending over a $1,000 for a positive approach that failed, having a training program that produced results - from our first meeting with Jess - more than outweighed any costs. If you fear (as we did) that your dog's personality will be altered, it's a false fear. Remi is totally the same dog. Just looking for us for direction and permission. It has been absolutely thrilling to have peaceful walks on heel, see Remi run with glee in open fields, and recall to us without fail. As an "older" couple, Mark and I needed to have the tools to age gracefully and without injury with the "amped up" dog we fell in love with and adopted. We have those resources now. Jess and her family are top-notch. Our puppy’s confidence grew exponentially and her leash walking manners did a complete 180. The puppy training set the foundation for a great family dog. We can now enjoy puppy life with a little more structure and a little less stress, and live with a dog that follows house manners that we now have the tools to reenforce. We hope to continue the off leash training with Sadie’s Rules. Wonderful experience.

Amazing rewarding experience for Shi-poo Joey. He was a good puppy with loads of energy. Now he is a great puppy with loads of energy and the ability to turn it off and relax. I needed him crate trained so he could fly in airplanes and to stop barking for attention from every other dog he could see or hear. The neighbor even said. ‘It sure is a lot quieter over there!’ Jess and her team have an amazing business. I felt their love and compassion for all the dogs and understanding of the owners’ role in the dog behavior which is a learning experience in itself. Thank you from bottom of Joey’s heart! Sadie’s saved our dog’s life. They did the impossible and then some. We are so grateful for them and cannot recommend them more! We rescued our bulldog, Percy when he was 1. He was extremely anxious and always on-guard. He paced and panted every waking moment. His anxiety turned into demanding behavior and object fixation. He expected treats, enrichment puzzles, snuffle mats, and bones for “distractions”. If we did not give in, he would incessantly bark. If that didn’t work, he would nip at us. If that didn’t work, he would bite. We met with veterinarians/animal psychiatrists who suggested medication. He tried 6 different meds within a 9 month period (all causing more agitation/no relief) with positive training. He passed his Canine Good Citizen test with flying colors, but did not retain any obedience without treats. His nipping and biting at us got worse. Unless it was bedtime, we couldn’t be in our house for more than 30 minutes for our safety. Everyone (including vets) told us we really needed to consider putting him down. This was heartbreaking to hear and consider - we loved him so much, but hated to see him so uncomfortable with anxiety. We found Jess + Sadie’s Rules K9 Training online. We were a little hesitant because they were 8 hours away and we were warned that e-collar training was “mean”. Our options were to put him down or try balanced training. Putting him down seemed more mean, so we reached out to Jess. She was quite familiar with cases like Percy’s, and knew that his body needed to learn how to relax so that his mind could relax. We worked with our vet to taper him off of all medication. We drove from Georgia to Virginia to drop Percy off for 8-week board & train. Jess was transparent and communicative his entire time there. We loved seeing his progress through daily videos on social media and updates. We felt like we were there. We couldn’t believe this was the same dog. He was so happy and relaxed. Jess provided resources, Sadie’s training documentation, and a book on balanced training philosophy, so we could prepare for a successful transition. After his 8-weeks, we drove up for in-depth sessions with Jess. She trained with us inside her house, outside on walks, off leash, remote training, and took us on a “field-trip”. We are home with Percy and cannot believe he is the same dog. He is respectful and calm. He walks in a “heel” on leash (even with bikes passing us and other dogs barking/lunging). He loves his crate and joyfully plays during playtime. We feel like we can finally give him the life and experiences we always wanted. I've been meaning to write this for sometime, but we have been so busy living life with our well behaved dog! The short version is send your dog to Jess immediately. Do not wait. Our Bernedoodle Lily was just under two years old when she went to Jess, and a very anxious girl. (When we first brought her home she was afraid of the sound of the heat coming on in our house and it took weeks to get her to tolerate traffic sounds outside). Despite this she did great with obedience and is a goofy and loving puppy, but living in the city wasn't helping in some major areas and she developed leash reactivity and so much jumping and barking. Outside recall was non existent no matter how hard we worked at it. After more than a year of training attempts, multiple different people, and an embarrassing amount of money we heard about Jess at a wedding and the next morning my husband started filling out the forms, literally while we were still in bed. I was very hesitant about e-collar training, but to be honest we were desperate, and so frustrated. We are two smart people, why can't we fix this? This was not the kind of life we envisioned living with our dog. We felt like we failed her. The day we dropped her off to Jess I felt so unexpectedly calm. Jess is so professional, her family is absolutely wonderful, and most importantly I could tell she was down to business. After six weeks, we picked up a different dog in all the best ways. I was afraid she would be a zombie or something but she was still the same goofy girl and she seemed to suddenly speak our language...and understand what was being asked of her. She was calm, clearly felt safe, and she was so well taken care of. (We called it bougie doggy summer boot camp...and it very much is.) Fast forward to six months later we realize clearly that we ended up being the ones who needed Jess' training in this process. We had to adjust a lot at first to maintain what was put in place during training, but it is so worth it! Its what Lily needed all along. Now, we play off leash every day (I sometimes forget the leash when we leave in the car because she really doesn't need it). Lily is SO CONFIDENT. She will go down slides at the park, she is best friend's with our mailman and most importantly she gets to be a dog now. She has so much freedom and it is so special to see how much more enriching her life is now that we can trust her to listen, and she can trust us to enforce boundaries. It's been said in so many of these reviews, but I wish we just went to Jess right away and didn't waste so much time and money on other people telling us wild things. Jess, and her whole family and staff are so compassionate, and understand the importance of letting your dog know what's expected of them, and then showing up for them by maintaining that. I recommend Sadie's Rules to absolutely anyone, and if you need a cherry on the top just ask about the dogs she trains for the local rescue. Our lives with Lily are absolutely changed and we are forever thankful for that gift every day. We are e-collar converts and supporters of Sadie's Rules for life!
