Rosie Dane Dog Training

This school was absolutely amazing. As the website described, this is not a typical dog training school. My experience compared to what I had a few years back training my Doberman is that it immediately produced positive results. Imagine about 25 dogs in 1 room first day of week 1( first meeting). Success was evident as we walked through the door week 2( second meeting). Almost silence! That progress continued throughout the weekly meetings to where I can get my Boxer/ Pit bull to sit/stay/down/ stay, come when called, heel when walking, stand for exam, walk off leach most importantly for me, behave when other dogs are around. It has been nearly a decade since I used this training company, but just recently walked past the owner in a Feeders Supply Store. He caught my eye because he had a dog on a choke collar and gave it a sharp yank in the middle of the store to get his dog to exhibit the behavior he wanted and it made my stomach turn. It was after that I noticed who it was. I tried this company years ago because it came highly recommended (the woman who referred me said “my dogs are like little soldiers now”), but quickly learned that the use of prong collars and choke collars is not for me. We have since adopted two dogs and use fear-free training methods with them. Gentle verbal corrections and plenty of rewards for positive behavior and lots of socialization and our dogs are amazing and go everywhere with us. Most people who use this type training wouldn’t choke a child, and no one should choke a dog regardless of what outdated reasoning is used. I do not need for my dogs to be soldiers - I need them to be safe and for others to be safe around them. I have spoken to others who have used similar training methods and were sad when they realized it changed their dog’s personality. Abuse is not training, even if it achieves the desired behavior. Dogs deserve to be happy and to be loved the way they love. Positive reinforcement is not a bribe. Being loving and dependable is how you establish REAL trust.

I have had three dogs over the last 7 years train with Tyler with the most recent finishing up this week. It has been a phenomenal experience all three times. The results speak for themselves, but my dogs all went in with different personalities and "issues" and all were resolved by the end of the novice course. If you are ready to put the work in (the weekly course is more about training the owner), you will find that you can tackle any issues and have a dog that you trust in your house and in public.
