We gave Zach a little puppy and Zack turned him in to a Marine. Our puppy Koda was 4 months old when Zach took him. I am getting old and we live on our farm. Zach helped us give Koda the structure the owners and puppy needed for an excellent start. Zach has excellent training techniques a full understanding of all breeds of Dogs. Zach sends video updates and has as need texting support. Thank You.

First off, I want to say how grateful we are for Purest Canines and our dog Oakley's trainer, Zach. We brought Oakley for the board and train program because he severely lacked confidence and could be quite stubborn off leash. The lack of confidence would cause some resource guarding during his meal time and behaviors such as peeing when overly excited. Zach was able to help this guy build his confidence to the fullest. Given Oakley's temperament and sensitivity, we struggled with building positive relationships with training tools, and oftentimes he would just shut down. Zach worked with Oakley at his own pace, and now the things that once caused shutdowns or undesired behaviors are just part of his daily life. And Oakley loves it!!!! Outside of just training our pup, Zach helped us understand how to use these newly taught behaviors and tools properly, so we can best set Oakley up for success. We now have a dog who is confident, calm, and thriving. No more resource guarding, and no more lack of confidence thanks to this. If you're on the fence about board and train, Zach is who you want. We can't thank him and Purest Canines enough!!!!

I left my 7 month old Rottweiler Schat-zi for 6 week training. He is/was a sweet boy but a little aggressive towards strangers. Kyana and Devin did a great job with him! It’s obvious that they love their profession and the dogs they train. I was pretty amazed how much he learned and has retained. They also provided a lot of additional information about the way dogs think and process their surroundings. Even after the training is done they continue to help out whenever I need assistance. I definitely recommend Devin and Kyana!!

I can’t say enough about Zach, the great time my dog Leo and I had with him and how much Leo and I learned from Zach’s training. Zach has a remarkable way with connecting with Leo, and Leo showed remarkable improvement over the course of the eight lessons we had with Zach. I can absolutely tell you that Leo is not the same dog as he was when we first started with Zach. But the lessons are not just about the training the dog, it is first and foremost about training the person and giving the person the tools and understanding to connect with his/her own dog outside of the structured lesson time. This is where the true payoff happens. Not only did Zach’s holistic approach help Leo and me become closer, but it also makes my time with Leo both at home and in public that much more enjoyable. I’m looking forward to continuing our training with Zach.

I truly could not be happier with my first experience with a board-and-train program. When I first adopted my GSD, I knew I was bringing home an incredible dog—but I also knew he came with habits and behaviors that had developed long before he became mine. I wanted to give him the structure and training he deserved, while also making sure I didn’t lose the dog I had already fallen in love with. I’ll admit, the idea of essentially dropping off my “brand-new” dog and not seeing him for six weeks was much harder than I expected. In the beginning, I was absolutely that person sending the daily “How’s my pooch doing?” messages. I cannot say enough about how patient and understanding Zach was with me during that transition. He communicated consistently, answered my questions, and never made me feel like I was being overbearing helicopter mom for wanting reassurance. Eventually, I became comfortable knowing my dog was exactly where he needed to be. One of my biggest fears going into training was that because he is a GSD, he would come home behaving like some perfectly programmed, robotic police dog. Obedience was important to me, but his personality was even more important. I wanted my dog back—just with better manners, boundaries, confidence, and communication. And that is exactly who came home! He is still my enormous, ridiculous, goofy boy. His personality wasn’t trained out of him at all. If anything, I feel like I can enjoy that personality even more now because we have a much stronger foundation underneath it. He’s still a humongous goofball… he’s just a TRAINED humongous goofball. The video updates throughout the six weeks were also something I really appreciated. Watching his progress from afar made it possible to see just how much work was going into him. My only personal challenge was that the updates were through Instagram, and as someone who doesn’t use social media, viewing them wasn’t always easy without an account—but the updates themselves meant a great deal to me. I know one of the first reactions people have when they hear the cost of a board-and-train program is, “Cha-ching!” I understand that reaction because it is an investment. But after seeing the result, I can confidently say this was money well spent. There is simply no way I could have accomplished on my own, in six weeks, what Zach was able to accomplish—especially while working through behaviors and habits my dog had developed before being adopted from the SPCA. What I appreciate most is that this wasn’t about creating a “perfect” dog. It was about giving a good dog the skills, structure, and communication he needed to be successful in his new life. When you adopt a dog, especially one with a history you weren’t there to witness, you don’t always know everything that shaped the dog standing in front of you. You just know that from the moment you bring them home, their future becomes your responsibility. Investing in this training was one of the best things I could have done for his future—and for our relationship. Six weeks ago, I entrusted someone with a dog I had only just welcomed into my family. Today, I got to bring home the same goofy boy I fell in love with—only now we understand each other better. For that, I am incredibly grateful.
