Puget Sound K9 Academy

UPDATE: I wish to update my rating for PSK9. The following issue has been fully resolved to my satisfaction. I have edited my original commentary to reflect the resolution. I recently had a disappointing experience with Puget Sound K9 Academy. I had arranged and prepaid for puppy training and daycare, but unfortunately, there was a no-show on their part this Monday, March 25th, 2024, without any communication or explanation I reached out to the owner, and he said that he forgot and would arrive in 45 mins. We waited for 3 hours for someone to arrive at the facility. The lack of communication and resolution has been frustrating. While I had high hopes based on their reputation, this experience has significantly affected my view of their reliability and customer service.

We paid approximately $540 for 7-45 minutes sessions for training for our new puppy. The lack of communication by the owner is ABHORRENT. I scheduled our initial session and the day of the owner called to cancel our session, my husband called to reschedule and was given a tentative date and time for the end of the week but the owner needed to check his schedule to confirm and would call back. However, we never received a follow up call, text, or email. The day of the tentative session, my husband called again and was told that the session was scheduled for the following week. We told him that we were not available for that date and time and gave them our available days, they stated that they would call back the following day to confirm a date and time. We never received a call, text, or email. I called on Monday and was told our appointment was for later that day, unbeknownst to me or my husband. We ended up going for 2 sessions lasted 20 minutes each. Two weeks ago, we had to cancel our appointment due to a work issue and were told "see you next week". When we showed up last week, there was no one there, and we had not received a call, text, or email stating that they couldn't make the session. We waited 10 minutes, called the owner and left a voicemail. We drove by later that week and there was a sign on the door saying classes resume next week. I never received an explanation or apology for missing our appointment. We are supposed to have an appointment tonight but do we? I don't know because no one has called, texted, or emailed me to confirm. I spent way too much money to not be communicated with appropriately. I feel like we wasted our puppies most impressionable period of development due to lack of communication. I expect a full refund of services.

Highly recommend taking your dog here if you are looking for any kind of training. My one year old cockapoo has been taking classes and her confidence has gotten so much better, she is less reactive to people and animals, and she’s learned so many commands. Jamie and his staff have taught me how to read my dog’s cues and to train her in a positive way. It’s crazy how easy it is once you know exactly what to do. They explain how/why for each step. And lastly, it’s been a great bonding experience with my dog. Highly recommend k9 academy!

Absolutely phenomenal. Working with these folks has been an absolute pleasure. They love dogs, yet respect them. With an evidence based approach, they teach OWNERS how to train/keep their pups. We love that we can trust Puget Sound K9 Academy to listen and respond to our needs as owners of a somewhat difficult but lovable pup. We’ve chosen to enroll, and re-enroll our doggy due to that empathy. As a responsible dog owner, 10/10 would go back.
