Professional Dog Mom

Absolutely wonderful doggy daycare for pets you really love and want to make sure are in excellent hands. I was looking around for different dog boarding/daycare centers to leave my 12yr old, separation anxiety ridden pug. I called a couple others before calling Tonda, the utmost Processional Dog Mom I've ever met. One center sent me to voicemail, to which I got a call back way later and told them he's already been taken care of. That place did happen to be my first choice based on the pictures I saw online. The second google search I called answered quickly and didn't exactly state that it was actually a daycare center on the ground floor of the Hard Rock Hotel. I didn't want to leave my dog in one big room with other dogs and no privacy so I told them I would have to look for a more suitable place. It was definitely more expensive than Tonda's service and NOT AT ALL as specialized and caring as Tonda's either based on the description of the hotel's service. My third inquiry was to the actual Dog Mom, and with an assessment over the phone, I was able to drop him off at 6:30am the next morning and picked him up by 9pm which was a little extra for extended daycare time. She kept in touch with me throughout the day thru text and left an update of how my dog was doing upon request thru voicemail. There is access to video footage of the area that your dog will be in and she really BABYSITS as if the pet is an actual child, which (to many pet parents) are considered our actual children. I can't rave more about the level of attention and care Tonda provided for my completely stressed and anxious 12 yr old pup. Anytime I'll be in Tahoe and in need of doggy daycare, I'll be coming back here to support this excellent, independent, and local business.

I don't often write reviews but wanted to share our experience boarding our dog here for 2 days over the weekend while we skied. Previously we took him to Tahoe Best friends where he had a lot of fun but seemed very unstructured (no rest times, kind of room full of dogs situation). I found Pro Dog Mom and thought it would be better for where he's at (1 year old exuberant Husky puppy). When I arrived they told me they had canceled my reservation because I was an hour later for drop-off than I had stated on their online system several days before. Would have been nice to receive a phone call if this was an issue, but no worries they still took him. When we picked him up the first day Tonda strongly suggested we use a head halter for him and gave us a demo of him using it around the parking lot and said she had used it with him all day. I'm not a slacker dog owner and I appreciate input but I really didn't think this was necessary as our dog does pretty good on leash collar walking and it isn't a pressing matter of safety if he occasionally pulls (he is a husky puppy). Using a harness like this without owners consent rubs me the wrong way even though I am open to this idea. When we picked him up the second day I was told that he didn't play with any dogs as there were only two other dogs being boarded and they weren't suitable to play with him. This is unforgivable to me. They also said he had separation anxiety because he was vocalizing in the room they kept him. I know that he doesn't have separation anxiety. He isn't missing me or other humans, he is bothered by hearing other dogs nearby and not being able to play with them. I don't think this is a bad place I just really think they miss the whole point of dog boarding. They seem to be not concerned with whether dogs are having fun. This might work with different dogs or breeds but it does not make sense for our dog. I want to go have fun and ski and know that my dog is having a fun time. Our dog is very dog-oriented and playing with other dogs for him is the highest reward. I expect that taking him to doggie daycare he will get to play with other dogs. I would never take him back here again.

I will admit I'm a little paranoid about who we leave our dog with, but I would not hesitate to leave him with Pro Dog Mom again. The facilities are clean, and the staff go above and beyond. They clearly care and know a lot about dogs. They kept track of when he pottied so that too long didn't go between potty breaks and made sure all the dogs that played together got along. The owner is also a dog behavioralist which is super cool. She made sure she knew all relevant info about our bundle of energy and when we took him back the next day he was so excited he started singing and rushed to get inside. 10/10 would go again
